View Full Version : Library not using folder.jpg when movie is rared?

I've used Media Info Plus 2 to make my own nfos for my collection of movies and it also exports a folder.jpg, fanart.jpg and movie.tbn.

The problem I have is that when the movie is in several rar-files, the library doesn't use folder.jpg or movie.tbn! Instead it generates an own thumbnail from a scene within the movie.

Is it supposed to be like this? And is there someway I can take around this?

EDIT: By checking the log-file now it seems like it tries to load the movie.tbn from inside the rar archive, which is very wrong. Is there any way to change how it works here? So it checks the folder and not the archive?

I don't think it's "very wrong" but should be considered an option.

Only way to change it is to change the code.

Just curious.. what is the usual reason people keep movies in rars? Is it usually because that's how it comes when they get it via p2p and they don't bother to unrar? or is it because they want to keep the movie and associated files in a single package?

If it's the latter, i think it makes sense to first look in the rar.

It's the former. Why unrar when you don't have to? Rar also offers internal verification that the file is OK when copying from one machine to another, if that's a concern.

I doubt anyone ever rars movies they encode themselves up (unless it's for the purposes of distribution, which clearly we don't condone.)
