just curious if anyone has had problems running xbmc with a large lba48 f: drive? it's running fine on both of my non-lba48 boxes, but when i try to launch it on my 300 gig box it just hangs before displaying anything to the screen. i have all extra space going to the f: drive, and no g: if that matters. looks pretty good so far, can't wait to see more.

strange, drive f: / g: should work in xbmc
unfortunaly i dont got such a big harddisc to try it
so hopefully somebody could look @ it?
if you look in xbmc/application.cpp you'll see:
in
hresult capplication::create()
{
...
helper.remap("g:,harddisk0\\partition7"); // used for lba-48 hack
}
i hoped/thought this should enable lba48

hi,
me too...
it's strange, i flashed with a bios 4977+lba48 patch (partition 6 takes rest of the drives)
*
i changed my hdd 120go for a 250go, and xbmc doesn't work !
i replaced my old hdd 120go where xbmc functioned well before flash my bios, and now with this bios(lba48hack), xbmc doesn't work.
i think that xbmc is for the moment incompatible with a bios lba48 patched
frodo, you can check the problem right by flashing your bios with lba48, because it's not necessary to have a big hdd (more 120go) to note the bug.
thx.
xbox v1.1
samsung
executor 2.1 (bios 4977+lba48 patch)
hitachi 250go
i got some code from the avalaunch team
(thx guys)
which should handle the lba48 stuff. its in cvs as of 14-10-2003 so in theory lba48 should work now
however i dont have an lba48 partition on my disc, so i cant test it.
pls try it and lemme know the results

what i don't understand is why does xbmp work with lba48 and a large f partition but xbmc doesn't? i can't remember what build i tried last night, but i will try the 14-10-2003 cvs and see if it helps.

hi all
i've just put todays build of xbmc (16-10-2003) i have lba48 enabled on my bios, however under settings -> system info *the f:\ drive is showing as unavailable. in addition to this none of the bookmarks are showing in any of my menus and selecting my videos make the box hang.
i am running a 200gb drive with x2_4977 (lba48 enabled) xbox v1.0
hope this helps, if you need any more just ask

k, i spoke with the avalaunch team.
the confirmed that the autodetection of lba48 isnt working yet. i'll change xbmc a bit so you can specify if you wanna use the f: and/or g: drive in xboxmediacenter.xml
that should always work

i am running a lba48 enabled bios and have tried the new release of xbmc. when i put the program on my f: it does not start. when i boot off of a cd it works fine. if i start xbmc off of the cd drive, f: is not accessible (nothing shows up under it). hopefully you guys will be able to fix this problem as xbmc is a good program.

hi frodo,
good work *http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif ,
i installed xbmc in partition 1 (e:/apps/xbmc) and it work fine !
thanx :)
(the engine of xbmc seems more powerful than xbmp)
however, xbmc doesn't want to show partition 2 (c:\)...
storage in system information, show "drive c: unavailable"
ok it's not a big problem compared with lba48...
somebody has same problem ?

i too was having the same problems as a lot of other folks and thought that it was an issue with xbmc not supporting lba48. *this is not the case however and i was able to resolve getting it working with a large f drive. *here is what i was able to work out on the issue.
i was not able to get xbmc (multiple cvs builds) working when using the following configuration:
bios: xecuter 4977 w/ lba48 enabled
dash: evox 3752
hd: 160gb with large f drive only (no g drive)
using this configuration it would simply just freeze on the loading screen from evox.
by upgrading to the following i am able to get it working:
bios: evox m7
dash: evox 3921
hd: same configuration (large f drive)
when using this configuration xbmc loads and i am able to run the various pieces of the application.
i am not sure if the issue was related to the dash or the bios but it definitely was not xbmc's lack of lba48 support, at least not in my case. i may flash back down to the 4977 bios and see if it still works since there is a feature in the 4977 bios that i need that the m7 does not currently support.
hope this is helpful to anyone else having issues with getting it working.

i echo the comments of starswan. i tried 10-18 on both e: and f: and it worked each time. however c: will not show any files.
i built a new 200gb drive with f: taking all available space, it formatted at 192gb.
using 4977 lba48 and evox 3901...
keep up the great work!

hi all,
just a quick update,
i have xbmc running fine from the e drive however it cannot see the f drive (c: is fine).
the customer came to pick his box up at the weekend so ive lost my g drived system. :(
im going to try and follow budwizers lead, and flash with m7 and see if that helps.

one thing i forgot to add to my configuration that i was testing with:
i was always running xbmc from f:\apps\xbmc. i never tried to run it from the c drive or the e drive.
