View Full Version : nfo files not getting read?

Hi!
Most of my movies get detected the way they are supposed to, but some doesnt. So I add an nfo file with the same name as the video file, and paste the URL to the imdb or tmdb page in it. As i´ve understood, this should work, but it doesnt!
Im using Vista and 9.04, I have the scraper set to tmdb.
For example this movie refuses to get identified correctly unless I choose imdb as the scraper from within XBMC:
Livet i 8 bitar <--- folder name and movie title
Livet.I.8.Bitar.SWEDISH.DVDRip.Xvid-Sabelma.avi <--- file name
Livet.I.8.Bitar.SWEDISH.DVDRip.Xvid-Sabelma.nfo <--- nfo file name
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0323084/ <---- contents of nfo file

Ive also tried naming the nfo file movie.nfo, but that doesnt work either.
What am I doing wrong, I thought nfo files were supposed to override scraper setting? It just continues to search tmdb without results, completely ignoring my nfo file.???

it is likely stacking related.

if you have one movie in a folder name the nfo movie.nfo and ignore the stacked name

I am not convinced the overriding issues we had between Atlantis and Babylon have been fixed. A debug log may help.
Let's hope a dev drops by.

debug log please

xexe: As I said: I´ve tried naming it movie.nfo, and it didnt work.

sho: Ok, it really screws the whole thing up, sorta makes XBMC library unusable, since Ive relied on nfo files for identification on alot of my movies. Seems to have worked well on atlantis (8.10 I think it was?), maybe I should revert back to it? =(
But yes, lets hope a dev drops by =)
Unfortunately I cannot produce a debug log from where I am now (not @ home atm).

EDIT: dev dropped by! =D hehe
sry I cant give a debug log right now, it will have to wait till I get home.
But maybe I missed something? Any special setting needed?

appologies i completely missed that. We will all jump in once you get a debug log.

FYI i am using the nfo method successfully with current SVN

Here is the debug log:

Very helpful function, seems like it has at least found the nfo and taken the imdb ID and searched for it on themoviedb! This is actually a very good function too, and actually the way would prefer it to work! Unless the movie does not exist on themoviedb, as in this case.:sniffle:
Maybe its my fault, might have done some setting wrong, Im still pretty new to XBMC.

XEXE: np, and thanks for helping out
also, good news that your not having any troubles, gives me hope!

btw, Z: is a mapped network drive.

Oh, would you mind posting a complete debug log please, the divining department is rather busy at the moment.

Not sure how it could be more complete, but I generated a new one and pasted everything it recorded.

I activate debug log, ask to look for new content and look for movie information, then deactivate it. Is that right or do you want me to do something else?
I thought I had taken the debug parts needed...:sniffle:

Or I could just add the movies thats missing to themoviedb.org. Ive actually allready started on that =) But I left Livet i 8 bitar for debuging purposes.
Since it searches for the imdb id on tmdb the problem isnt really that big. I actually like it that way, if that is the way it works (as it seems).
But if this is how it is supposed to be, maybe the wiki should be updated to inform people about it?

This one looks better (see the difference at the top?)
I think we want it fixed, so please don't add it yet :)

Okidoki. Yes I see the difference, just didnt think it was needed. My bad!

If tmdb is set as default scraper:
The best thing according to me would be if imdb links were only used to obtain imdb ID (because imdb links are included in most nfo files from release groups), scrape tmbd using the ID and if not found: use imdb info.

found link with imdbID ->
use ID to scrape tmdb: if fail then ->
use imdb ->
Happy happy user:grin:

Problem is already spotted. I will commit a fix in a few hours (when i am at home).

SVN revision 20305 takes care of it. FYI, missing language tag in IMDb scraper was causing this.

I havent updated XBMC yet, but could the same bug be causing the series "Sveriges Värsta Bilförare" to not load any text at all, just the thumbs. The nfo file is set to the link http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=85105&lid=8
Ive tried changing language both on the content settings and XBMC itself to swedish, with no results.
???

I asked on thetvdb if something was wrong there, but seems to be OK. They say.:sniffle:

Can't even find thumbs there :)

Btw, it's another issue, please create a new topic for that and pastebin a complete debug log so we can see whats wrong.

That is how the site works, it is a community driven site, its users has to register an account provide the information, (they have no employees that does it for you like larger commercial sites such as TV.com and IMDB.com).

Actually, Im the one who added the series and the info there. Visit the URL with your web browser and you will see that there ARE info about the series and 3 or 4 episodes. No text and no title shows up in XBMC (it worked about 3 months ago or something like that, in 8.10).
As no text is showing up at all, it feels really unneccesary for me to complete this series info on thetvdb.

See this thread for the same issue:
You are almost definately fetchin english (nonexistant) info for a swedish show.
