View Full Version : MKV's randomly stop playback?

I have an odd issue with Live 8.1 Beta 2 (was also having the issue in Atlantis.)

Whenever I play MKV files the play will stop at random places. The odd thing is if I start the movie up again, skip to that point, it will stop at that point again. The first time I thought it was a bad MKV file, but now I'm realizing it's happening on ALL my 1080p mkv files at some point. It does not happen with SD content, and rarely with 720p MKV's.

I would try Babylon but I'm affected by the boot error that others are reporting. My setup is a 3ghz core 2 duo, 2gigs ram, plenty of HD space. My media is being served out on a windows server via SMB, on a gigabit backbone.

I can play these MKV's fine on my PC with no drops over the network, just not to my XBMC Live box. Before I start doing logs and trying to reproduce, has anyone else run into this?

we'd need a debug log as usual, and probably a sample that exhibits the problem.

Thank you for the quick reply. I enabled debug logging, and before starting to playback a problematic MKV I decided on a guess to up my video cache. Sure enough I just watched an entire 1080p movie without any stops!
