Nvidia 9300 poor performance with VDPAU

RAM : 3GB DDR2 800Mhz
Graphics Card : Nvidia 9300 512MB (reserved RAM)
HDD : Toshiba 320GB SATA 2.5" 5400rpm

I recently bought a zotac 9300-ITX to create a custom HTPC.

I installed ubuntu 8.10, downloaded all the updates (including nvidia drivers + vdpau support).

I've followed Readme.linux to download XBMC sources through SVN and compiled them by the book ( --enable-vdpau). The only problem is that the killa-sampla.x264.mkv still runs very slowly and the cpu reaches 100%

I also tried to compile mplayer with vdpau support but it keeps crashing too (check pastebin)

What am I doing wrong ?

How much RAM did you dedicate to video?

Why did you paste the mplayer debugspew and not the xbmc on an XBMC forum?! lol

check your bios vram setting.

Because it complains about vdpau and it could be related. Also, I couldn't find a xbmc.log

I reckon you should maybe check your VRAM setting.

I already did that but I don't know what should I consider as a bad "setting". :(

BINGO !

That was my problem ! After enabling it my cpu load passed from 100% to 5~10%
