I've read the manual, which has a lot of information on how to create .strm files.

I've searched the forum, which assures me that XBMC will play these files.

Nowhere can I find anything at all on how to do it. I downloaded the collections of .STRM files which are playable in XBMC, but I can't find any information on how to load/play them. Maybe it's super-simple, but it's not obvious. Every time I try to add one as a source, XBMC doesn't see it in the file browse dialog.

So how is it done?

you add the strm to a source.

So if you have C:\streams\foo.strm add C:\streams as your source and all the strm files inside will show up.

also I don't know how up-to-date the examples in the wiki are, you might want to try some other streams that you know exist.

Thank you! I knew it had to be simple. That information would have been very helpful if it was in the manual under "HOW-TO play internet video and audio streams".
