Just downloaded and installed and reads as 9.04 alpha 1. AmI not getting the correct file? Thanks.

Comes up on the Basic information screen, but, just did an update with the "auto updater" and it reads 9.04-beta1 r19607 (compiled: Apr 22 2009):)

the beta has it own branch. You probably are using the main linux branch.

I downloaded XBMC_for_Windows-Babylon-Beta1.exe (file size 48761169). After install it says alpha compiled on 4/4/2009.
