View Full Version : IMDb stopped working?

Hi,

I've just reinstalled my Xbox with the latest t3ch release (8.10). I haven't got the change to build one from source as I do not have the compiler (and I suppose it requires Windows, which I also don't have).

Anyhow: this afternoon (around 13:00 CET) the autoupdate on my movies worked fine - I got the descriptions and thumbs. But now I cannot lookup the full and info and I cannot add new movies to the library, as it seems not to be scraping the info from IMDb.

I'm getting the following error in the debug log (and only this one):

17:15:42 M: 14012416 ERROR: CIMDB::Process: Error looking up movie Cars

Did IMDb change something between 13:00 and now (well, about an hour ago), which seems unlikely to me, or is something else wrong?

Thanks for any help!

Same problems here, I assume imdb have changed something and its stopped xbmc from using it as a lookup

IMDb lookups are working fine here. Please upgrade to the recently release XBMC 9.04 pre-release (BETA).

If you dont want to wait for t3ch's release try google for "xbmc nightly builds"

@xbs08: I'll try that in a bit.

I've tried another t3ch build (the 9.04 alpha1) which showed in the changelog that there were changes made to 'getting video information', right before it was compiled. It didn't fix the problem for me.

One extra question: would replacing the 'video' folder inside /system/scrapers/ with the one from the SVN do the trick? It would seem so to me (as the xml-files contain all the scraping rules). But on my XBMC installation it doesn't help (not on the latest t3ch build, the alpha1 nor on the latest stable build by t3ch, the 8.10).

For a while imdb was disable until they obtained permission to use the scraper. I'm not exactly sure when it happened. It was pretty like the January to March builds, but I'm not sure on that. What I did when I had the non-working version, was similar to what you were asking.

However, instead of copying over the whole video folder, I just copied over the .xml files that were imdb and imdbtv or whatever all of the files that began with imdb were and it was re-enabled for me. what t3ch build are you using? i'm still using the january 25th build but have the scrapers from the december 30, 2008 build, if I recall correctly. I may have the scrapers from the one before that, but I don't remember when imdb was disabled.
