Black screen of death!

i'm a real newbie so go easy! i recently had my xbox modded with a solderless xenium ice, the second i got home i updated the rather tired and old version of xbmc. it now no longer works! i've tried deleting the face008 files before you ask... xbmc also appears in my menu so theres no problems with installation or evox.ini files. the error is something along these lines...

could not load language/english/strings.xml


i cant remember the exact error. please help me, xbmc is one of the main reasons i got my xbox modded.

did you modify strings.xml? make sure you have uploaded everything correctly.

make absolutely no changes to any files and just upload everything.

no, didnt edit the file, thats the first thing i thought so i downloaded xbmc from a different website and when that failed i asked a pal with the same version to send me his copy of strings.xml.

non of this worked :(
