Video Codec Question

hi,

i have been using xbmp and xbmc from the start of each of their developements. awsome program by the way!

my question is related to playback of video via xns/smb and supported formats / codecs. i have many files (mpg,avi,divx,etc) that all can play on xbmp fine, but in xbmc i only have the option to view some of them (most not even showing?) is this correct? i thought initially that the codecs had not been integrated as developement was in its early days, but i still have the problem with the latest version of xbmc. am i doing something wrong?

how do i do this?

also in earlier version i had to delete some files in udata and tdata when upgrading. i know that you did something early on so this was no longer necessary, but is it worth clearing this down so its fresh? if so how do i do this (what do it delete?)
