View Full Version : Setting up movies in their on folders

After using XBMC for years (since XMP days) I have recently switched from having all my movies and associated content into their own folders. I did this largely because it tidied up my files in my server, not for any benefit I could see in XBMC itself.

However, I thought that by doing this XBMC would somehow recognize this and treat the folder as if it was the video file itself. Eg, when browsing my movies in file mode (which I don't do very often) if a folder contained only a single avi file (or parts) it would play that file when I select the folder instead of navigating into it. But its not doing this. The folders display nicely with clean movie names (I don't like to rename the video file - perhaps the one benefit of using individual folders), displays the associated folder.jpg and fanart.jpg, but when I select it, XBMC just goes into this folder and displays the avi file. Am I doing something wrong, or have a jumped to an incorrect conclusion on XBMC behaviour?

Thanks

Files view shows you your filesystem. Use the library if you want one-click goodness.

I do use library mode most of the time, just switch to file most occassionally and thought it would work like this here to.

Obviously not.

Just use the library mode. It's dazzling.
