View Full Version : Harmony One+XBMC on windows
Hey.
I have now for the last day tried to get my harmony one to work with XBMC.
Ive tried with IR server suite, but i don't seem to get it to work. Anyone who has harmony one and maybe can give me some hint?!?

Do you have your harmony setup as an MCE remote?
while not a Harmony One, I did spend the better part of a day getting an 880 to work with XBMC. The how-tos on here weren't very helpful. They pointed me towards EventGhost (which is awesome) but there were things they didn't explain I had to figure out on my own. Maybe it was just my bad luck I don't know. If you can be a bit more complete in telling us what problems you're having I'll do my best to help. I was thinking of writing a nice how-to from the floor up. Again, maybe it was just my poor luck, but I had to totally disable ehome (which launches VMC) if I wanted to re-map any of the Harmony only buttons

I wouldn't mind such a how-to. I currently use EventGhost, and I think a complete guide would be helpful to a number of people.
I have more than one problem i think.
First i cant find a way to set my medie center into the remote because it homebuild, så cant find it at logitech list.
Second i cant find anything in Ir server suite i find useful (dont know what im looking for)
Third Im not realy sure if i can use my irda reciever

And as you said, i don't find the guides very helpful..

It would be nice to see a really comprehensive MCE + EventGhost guide in the Wiki. I don't want to write the whole thing, but I would definitely write a section or two of the wiki post.
The guide should include (besides the basic install and setup):
How to disable ehTray and have the Start button fire up XBMC.
How to leave the HID Service enabled.
How to close XBMC on sleep and start it back up on resume.
How to close XBMC using a remote button.

Try adding the Vista Media Center device to your Harmony remote. Most people refer to this as an MCE remote.
One of the buttons on your Harmony should then be mapped to a command named "Start". Pressing that should fire up Vista Media Center or XP Media Center (depending on which OS you have). Once you have that working, come back here for more help. We can't be of much help to you until you get that working.
Forget about IR Server Suite, EventGhost is much better.
Edit:
Just looked at that irda receiver. I'm not sure that's going to work for you. You can try it, but you'd probably have better luck with a standard MCE receiver.

How to leave the HID Service enabled..
What is the benefit of that? EG recommends it be disabled. Just curious.

For me, the navigation responds much more smoothly. Others have reported the same thing on this forum. Also, it allows the remote to keep working in Vista Media Center if you so desire.

Really? I wonder if that was my problem all along...I am now using USB-UIRT but that is interesting if that's was my problem. I still have my MCE EG xml so I might try it.

Just make sure that when you leave the HID service enabled, that you DO NOT map the predefined buttons in EventGhost. As far as I know, these include the arrows, select, exit, and number pad buttons.
