I have now uninstalled my ATI drivers, and disabled the ATI chip from the motherboard.

I got a new Nvidia 9400 GT putted in, and I want to redo my xorg.conf and install the latest NVIDIA drivers.

All this will help my to hw-acc I guess.

Where shall I start, and what have I missed?

At nvidia.com I can read that 180.44 are the latest drivers, but in http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=HOW-TO:_Install_XBMC_for_Linux_on_Ubuntu_8.10_(Intrepi d)_step-by-step#Introduction
I can read 185.13/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.13-pkg1.run
?

Where to begin?

I want my xorg.conf to be redownloaded, not restored from some backup I got on my computer, and I later want some adviced on what I shall add manual to run XBMC better.

Big thanks!

EDIT: Using Ubuntu 8.10
EDIT2: Found this: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606

Hi,

I'm using this repo. to install the latest nvidia drivers:
deb http://www.avenard.org/files/ubuntu-repos intrepid release

You can generate a xorg.conf file with nvidia-xconfig, then tweak it reading this:
http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=HOW-TO_install_XBMC_for_Linux_on_Ubuntu_8.04_(Hardy)_a nd_8.10_(Intrepid)_step-by-step#xorg.conf_configuration_.28Nvidia.29

I recently switched from my ati hd3200 integrated card to a fanless asus geforce 8500gt, best decision ever!, ati drivers are crap and i'm tired of waiting for a VDPAU like api

ATI 3200 swithed for an NVIDIA 9400 passiv for me. I finally installed the drivers, after disabled nv in DISABLED_MODULES

I got it working on the monitor connected with VGA under install, but now I want my Panasonic to work with DVI-HDMI.

The TV only work with 720p in 50 Hz or 60 Hz, or 1080p.

I want 720p 60 Hz, but I cant get any picture.

Shall nvidia-xconfig fix this, or do I have to add something else?

Thanks.

I just setup the bios to use the pcix card instead of the integrated one, then rebooted and I could see every thing on my TV, like a normal monitor (bios messages, etc..), the tv it's a 1080p sony bravia. I had to buy a DVI to HDMI conversor though.

Which mother board do you have? mine is an asus m3at8-emh
