View Full Version : Installed from PPA, NO VDPAU Option
Hey Guys, I have the newest Nvidia 180.44 drivers installed on Ubuntu 8.04. All is working fine, however I don't have the vdpau option in my video options. I installed from the SVN PPA. Am I missing something, I know VDPAU libs have been mentioned elsewhere, but are they included in the drivers, or seperate? I apologize in advance, I am pretty much a linux noob, and have been searching all night.
Thanks!
Update, got the liv-vdpau-180 installed. Did an apt-get purge xbmc and then reinstalled using sudo apt-get install xbmc. Still no option for vdpau...

Farley sure you need to compile your own from SVN.

You are sure to have a supported videocard?
As far as I know XBMC tests the ability of the hardware and on not-vdpau-able hardware will just work as before.
My box doesn't have a supported graphics processor and there is no option for vdpau too.
My card is supported, its an 8800gts

If it's the 320MB 8800GTS it's not supported. I know because I have one in my desktop :)
So the 8800GTS 640MB card is not supported under VDPAU?

Sorry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VDPAU#Device_drivers).
Weak sauce! Thanks for the help though guys.
I don't think the PPA is maintained during a release schedule. 9.04 is coming up soon.
Just installed a 9400GT, which does suppor the VDPAU. The option still isn't showing up. How do I completly remove the vdpaul build, and start from scratch? I would like to keep my db's and skins if possible.
Thanks
