Yes, yes I know, it's Windows 7 and it's still Beta, but it would still be nice if it worked:)

The startup gets to reading sources.xml and then crashes. I've tried running it as admin and under all of the different compatability (Vista/XP SP1/2/3 etc) and no luck. I've tried putting in a empty sources.xml (see third log) and still no luck, it still crahses (see second log).

I did a take ownership of the xbmc folder and all worked for me, search google for the take ownership registry key or get one here

It looks like that's not a recent build of XBMC? If not, please try a newer one.

I also tried XBMC on Windows 7, and it worked pretty good.
one thing not workin: AC3-passthrough (DTS works) Donīt know if this is a bug of XBMC or of Windows 7. Using Realtek 889 onboard sound with up-to-date- drivers.

Tried taking ownership of the XBMC folders under %appdata% and program files, but still the same result.

XBMC v8.10 downloaded Jan 6.

qwertytam: as I said, please try a new version. That was released ages ago. See the stickies for newer builds.

Yeah, that's a seriously old version. Also, double check to make sure your video driver is up to date.

Yes, I second the video drivers suggestion. I went crazy messing around with the guisettings.xml file and whatnot, and all along it was just a matter of downloading newer video drivers.

Make sure you run it WITHOUT -p, this triggers portable mode and makes XBMC save it's settings under %PROGRAMFILES% which it's not allowed.

Downloaded and tried latest builds from ikons and kricker. Currently running 19301 from ikons.

Have the latest graphics drivers (v8.15.10.1620 for Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset, Intel GMA 3100)

Startup target: "K:\Program Files\XBMC\XBMC.exe" -fs

XBMC still crashing on startup, log below.

I'm wondering if Win7 doens't like those drivers - they should be OpenGL 1.4 but the pastebin shows:

NOTICE: GL_VERSION = 1.1.0

XBMC required 1.4/2.0 of OpenGL

Graphics Card: Intel GMA 3100 on Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset

Downloaded latest available (v7.15.10.1666 from Intel vs v8.15.10.1620 available from Microsoft) from Intel website and that's fixed it. Upgraded OpenGL to v1.4. Any idea why Microsoft doesn't include a later version of OpenGL then 1.0?

They are microsoft? While I'm generally opposed to MS bashing, they don't have a great track record with open software.

So are you saying the program is working now?

The problem is Windows 7 is a beta OS and not officially supported by XBMC yet.

Some people have made it work however but the vast majority of windows users are on XP/Vista so you may find issues no one else has seen yet. AKA you are beta testing by definition now.

Please see the sticky in this forum on how to properly report a bug/problem you are having.

We're happy to help, as we'd like XBMC to work when 7 comes out, but given the amount of information you've provided, there's nothing we can do.
