xbmc 8.10 wont start on a nvidia 6800

Hi

I downloaded this software the other day.. and installed no problems
on my notebook HP v6000 with intel gm950 card.

however today Ive tried to install it on my fast P4 3ghz pc with high spec
Geforce 6800gt card and it crashes with a error in both full screen and windows mode

ive tried removing guisettings.xml, calibrations, also removing the -p
all dont work.
the one thing I noticed on Intel gm950 is the window is like 800x600
buit on here it tried to open a wide screen window 1280 x 720
so wondering if thats the problem but then why dont it work in full screen?

is there any way to tell it what vidoe card you have or a safe mode setting to
boot it up using directx perhaps?

does thsi product use flash or shockwave at all? just wondering if its a issue access

These are svn builds and not considered stable but we suggest everyone to try the latest at least since Atlantis is rather old.

so its the correct path then.. to download.. shame its 80mb to install.. takes ages to
download espc now the isp has limited /throttle my speed until its resets in thursday :(

whats svn and atlantis mean? build nicknames? im so used to v8 alpha build 1.02 and v9 beta1 beta 2

Atlantis is the first release name, babylon will follow. svn says just the current revision.

it is when you back on modem speeds here at 6kbytes per second :(
from the usual 300kb/s well it take a few hours to download and try
have to wait til tomorrow by looks

so the XBMCSetup-Rev19150.exe
is the one to grab for xp then.. i assume no intel means gm950 etc support for the older
revisions. so this one should detect nvidia and intel chip sets

the window mode should not matter though... one thing it lacks is be able to choose
size of the window version.. well on the laptop here where its running atleast

OK i downloaded it and it still hung.. so next I looked into the nvidia 3d settings
after going through each and multiple ones.. I found
all i had to do is make sure EXTENSION LIMITS is OFF !!
i assume this is for rescaling window sizes?

also it seems to conflict with nortons 360 v2.. so I exclude it in the exclusions
and also for nod32same.

however on closing it doesnt close out completely.. i think this is because nortons
leaves a shadow copy for future fast launches.. some system they invented
which seems to conflict with some software and has no option to turn it off per app or
off completely.. typcial symmentec!

so end task solves any parts left in memory else next time launch it hangs with no window showing.

i guess could make a script or batch file to do process kill it before launching each time
would solve it. perhaps the writers can test it more with antivirus software espc nortons
360 to see what i mean

also if installing over old version.. I had to delete the guisettings.xml as its completely different by looks and seemed to hang.. and some other settings were lost like uPNP for nas access. so had to go to settings and add them back..

also works fine on Intel gm950 in full and windowed maybe a bit better then the nvidia oddly..

the p4 , 3ghz and 6800 seems to cliche alot with mouse movement and accessing nas sometimes.not sure on that but maybe need a FASTER PC or maybe its to do with
nvidia video settings still..

also the window on the intel gm950 seem smaller then the older version
not sure why and cant see a setting to resize the window to suit

but hope that helps others. basically
nvidia 3d extension limits setting can kill it

OK i found if go into settings and screen and choose a size and restart the windowed window adjusts to it.. shame cant do it via title bar..

I wanted a screen size that fit inside the taskbar and window edges but couldnt find a setting for that. closest was 1280 x 720 at 60hz the right side on the window is a few pixels off screen

i tried to modify in guisettings but seems to ignore if have 1200..
unless im entering in the wrong part.. apart from that the new version seems alot better
then 8.1
