I followed the wiki and did the minimal install which has xbmc auto launch. I did use the ppa's, and decided to update just now. apt-get upgrade and then rebooted, xbmc doesn't load now.
I see the X mouse cursor pop up briefly, then its dumped back to console. The only error I've found so far is in Xorg.0.log.
FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.
I changed my samba shares in the meantime between updates, but I don't think this would be causing it to crash on me. xsession-errors shows that it dumped
Xsession: X session started for xbmc at Sun Apr 5 00:14:05 CDT 2009
Fatal error encountered, aborting
Error log at /usr/share/xbmc/temp/xbmc.log
The XBMC_HOME environment variable is not set.
Aborted (core dumped)
Xsession: X session started for xbmc at Sun Apr 5 00:14:37 CDT 2009
Fatal error encountered, aborting
Error log at /usr/share/xbmc/temp/xbmc.log
The XBMC_HOME environment variable is not set.
Aborted (core dumped)
However, I do not have a /usr/share/xbmc/temp/xbmc.log. I do have /var/tmp/xbmc-xbmc.log but its last update was right before I updated and rebooted, so nothing useful there.
