How to tag music to get compilations working

Hello,
i have a collection of some compilations and tagged them all with iTunes. They all have a common Album-Interpret and are set as "Compilation".
Yesterday i imported them into XBMC, but only some of them were grouped as compilation.
When going to the "Interpret" section, there was no grouping at all... Can't i set it to "Group by Album-Interpret"?
How do you handle compilations? Which tags will i have to set?

No idea what an "Album-Interpret" is - sounds like some itunes-ism. Just tag as per the link above and it'll be all good.
