I am trying to use XBMC on my Windows Vista 64bit Computer.
When I'm trying to open XBMC it freezes, even before I see the interface.
I have tried opening it in windowed mode and updated my video card drivers but it didn't solve the problem.

Windows Version: Vista 64bit SP2
XBMC Version: 8.10 Atlantis
CPU: Intel Core2Quad 2.40
RAM: 6GB
Video Card: Nvidia 8800 GTS 512MB
Sound: Onboard

Here is my debug log: http://pastebin.com/fdbe98a1

If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would be very thankful.

Is nobody able to tell me what the problem might be? I have no clue why it crashes... Might it be that my Hardware or Open GL 3.0.0 isn't yet supported?

I tried installing the a new Nightly build (SNV 18839), but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

remove the -p from the start menu link and try again.

I tried starting from start menu without "-p" and with "-fs -p".
Problem is the same.

When I'm trying to start without "-p" it doesn't create a new log.
Here is my log when startet with "-fs -p": http://pastebin.com/m182147ac

I really appreciate your help. If there's something I could try please let me know. Did you have a look at my logs? Is there anything strange about them?

I just tried an older build: Rev 13630
The programm still freezes on startup. Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/m7ca055c4
The Problem occurs obviously after loading langinfo.xml and keyboardmap.xml. (As in all Logs, these are the last logged infos) Does anyone know what should happen after loading these?

I also tried the Media Portal Application which is based on the XBMC source code. And it runs!
Probably Media Portals source code isn't very close to XBMCs anymore, so it won't help finding the problem.

Loaded advancedsettings.xml from special://profile/advancedsettings.xml ? Try removing this file 'advancedsettings.xml' and running it again ..

Won't help. I created the file manually to get a complete error log (setting loglevel to 1).

Theirs a windows 7 registry file going around that has the option Take Ownership. I right click on my XBMC folder and "Take Ownership" and all worked then! if you wanna give it a go ? google on vista ownership of folder.

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a try asap.
Do you think it is a problem of ownership? What makes you think that?

It diddn't work.
Added the registry file and took ownership of the XBMC folder but the problem remains.
Honestly I would have been surprised if it had worked.

I finally got it running! Yeah!
I'm really looking forward to using this fantastic application!

The problem was caused by my video card settings.
Thanks WiSo for your PN! You were right when you said, that it was probably a problem with missing msvcp*.dlls or the video card drivers.

What I did to get it working was resetting the NVIDIA nTune System preferences. Thats all.

Thanks again to everyone who tried helping!
