I'm setting up my first HTPC, been a long time XBMC user on original xbox. I have a few questions I hope some can help out on.
1) What kind of CPU speed is needed for HD streams? I don't expect to be doing any 1080p, but its possible. Mostly 720p. Is multi-core CPU going to help? I currently have a spare P4 3.0ghz that I planned on using.
2) Is a 100mbit network fast enough to stream HD from a file server to XBMC, or will I need to go gigabit?
3) Can you set up XBMC to output digital out only? My issue is that my receiver doesnt accept PCM, it only does 5.1 and 2 channel DD. Will it play standard audio through the digital out?
4) and last but not least, can anyone recommend a decent RF remote that can control a PC and audio components as well, with some macro support?
