View Full Version : Failed search and now xbmc won't find the new episode?

I had just added a new episode to my hdd and proceeded to run xbmc (updates automatically at startup). As my update was running, either a timeout occurred or my internet connection dropped out as xbmc was getting info from thetvdb.

Now when I try and re-add the episode, it's skipped over and won't show up in the library (in file mode I can view and play it fine).

Is there a way to force xbmc to recheck the folder?

I'd go to file mode, navigate to the episode, press Info and if necessary Refresh. this should pull the episode into the library.

Nothing is responding when I press info (works fine on other files). Pressing context menu and trying to navigate to episode info doesn't work either (nothing there).

Refreshing the library didn't work either.

Edit: I have been able to add new episodes for this show and other shows, it is just this one episode that won't add to the library after the error connecting with tvdb

A debug log would probably tell you what's doing on.

Sticky: HOW-TO post a problem in a useful manner (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42708)

I'm having a similar issue, when I try to add a specific episode of a show(the new southpark episode is the one in question) nothing happens and it acts like It didn't see anything new. However I've added episodes of other shows fine and some movies as well, but this specific episode won't add.

I'm using XBMC 8.10(compiled nov 13 2008), here is the debug log, I found where It started to scan the show in question(south park) I was hoping nothing before that was relevant, but if you need the log before this let me know and I'll post it.

I have no idea how to interpret that error:

16:00:02 T:1308 M:440819712 ERROR: Window Translator: Can't find window settingscategory
16:00:02 T:1308 M:440819712 ERROR: Error evaluating boolean expression !Window.Previous(0) + !Window.Previous(SettingsCategory) + !Window.Previous(1001) + !Window.Previous(130) + !Window.Previous(34)

But its happening right after it tries to update the library so i assume that has something to do with this episode not getting picked up

I had te same problem for the last 3 days, but on a scan today it worked. I'm guessing it was something to do with the tvdb problems that are almost fully resolved for me now.

phonics, don't think the ERRORs you see are your problem. The library scanning happens 6 sec later here

16:00:06 T:2252 M:357490688 NOTICE: My Videos: Scanning for video info using worker thread, operation took 00:03

Suggest you firstly turn on full debug logging from xbmc gui or setting in advancedsettings.xml - see http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml#.3Cloglevel.3E

Maybe try the things you've been trying (eg, scan library, repeat pressing context menu on episode etc) with debug on and then post full log to pastebin or similar

Strangely this morning I did a library update and didn't get any new episodes added, however when I scanned southpark for new content it added the coon episode. However there is another new episode that won't add(new WRC, as well as new Real Time and F1 2000 episodes) so hopefully that will work itself out like southpark did.

I think the problem has something to do with thetvdb lagging between episodes being added to the site and them being recognized through api requests. Anything that I add to my library that has been on the site for several days seems to work fine(possibly why southpark episode works today) but anything that has been added recently(or that I've added recently) to thetvdb won't be recognized when I scan for new content, so I'm guessing it will just be a day or two before they will get picked up. Hopefully they can figure the issue out so things get updated quicker.

The problem WAS that paths were committed to the db whether or not we found info, such as when thetvdb times out. This has been fixed some weeks ago. If you install a recent 3rd party build and rebuild your DB it should work correctly.

I just installed jesters rev18627 and rebuilt the db but it's still skipping over the same episodes, it's all stuff that has been added to TheTVDB in the past day or so that is not being picked up.

I will try with the newest build, may I ask how I rebuild the database?

The same thing happens to me, I have tried several recent builds of XBMC but it won't pick up the episodes added to thetvdb.com 1 or 2 days ago like benkrishman says.

The same happens when I try to get Boxee to recognize the episode, btw.
