Probably due to thetvdb having server issues. Search if you want more info, there are plenty of threads on the topic already.

I didnt have too many issues this past weekend. But still not up to speed on how it used to be. Still would like to see his naming convention on the files themselves.

I'm using the [name]s0xe0x method and it worked before.

Yep.. debug log will tell what's wrong.

I'm having the same issue. I've been having it for the past several weeks. I'm new to this project and I like what I've seen of the movies, music and weather but TV shows doesn't even show up unless I go out of Library Mode and into the file views. I'm using the build "pre-9.04 r19073 (Compiled: Mar 29 2009)" on an XP Pro machine and was hoping the newer version would fix this issue. Any ideas? I looked through the debug log but it's all but Greek to me. I'll gladly post it if anyone cares to see it.
Example of the path and my filename:
\\fs1\media\tv shows\mp4\South Park (2006)\Season 10\South Park.s10e1001.mp4

Try using episode numbers relative to the season:
South Park.s10e01.mp4
Otherwise I believe it's looking for episode 1001 in season 10 in the south park listing(which does not exist).

Understood. I took those number directly from the DVD case but I see what you're getting at. I'll give it a go...

Still no joy! Below is my naming scheme...
\\fs1\media\tv shows\mp4\South Park (2006)\Season 10\South Park.s10e01.mp4
I see them in the standard file listings but when I go to the Library mode, "TV Shows" doesn't even show up.

So let me get this straight, right now if you add a new tv show, the show itself will appear in the library, but the episode will not?
I assume this means you are setting content correctly. One thing you might do is look to see if there are any stray nfo files present. Sometimes those can cause the scraper to act strangely.
Example of the path and my filename:
\\fs1\media\tv shows\mp4\South Park (2006)\Season 10\South Park.s10e10.mp4
Where are you setting contents?
I am wondering if the mp4 is throwing XBMC off if you do it on the tv shows folder?
(But then my guess would be that you wouldn't even get shows, let alone episodes)
But please look at the below thread and the debug log requirement:

The files, themselves, show up in the typical file views but not in Library Mode. As soon as you check the box for Library Mode, "TV SHows" isn't even an option whereas "Movies" is an option to get into.
When I do a DIR or my directory with the MP4 files, I get this. There are no other files within the directory that are messing with the scrapers. As you can see, the directory structure is nothing exciting and the files are all named per the wiki documentation regarding "TV SHows."

The MP4 is the file extension within Explorer. Whitout it, the file will be useless. By default, I'm showing file extensions in my Explorer settings. Furthermore, my movies work fine and show up as they should in "Library Mode" so there's no reason why the TV shows shouldn't work, right?
I'll have to wait 'til I get back home in order to drop a copy of the log in here... I'm a network admin and I'm out of town a lot with my job so it may be a day or two before I get it to you guys.

The mp4 folder I mean, not the extension.
(Do you really sort your stuff by file format?)
Anyways if you don't get any tv shows in your library, that's most likely the culprit.
Try setting contents on the mp4 folder.

I can try renaming that directory. No, I don't sort my files by format :). I have the raw (DVDFab) rips in another directory... Basically, when you drill down to my "\\fs1\media\tv shows" directory, you'll see 2 other directories inside it - "rips" and "mp4." My movies are set up the same way and they work fine... They are in "\\fs1\media\movies" and, again, you'll see a "rips" directory and a "mp4" directory. The "movies" directory and the "tv shows" directory are what have the "set content" settings. They are set for "movies" and "tv shows" respectively and are using their associated IMDB scrapers.

Ok, nice to know.
But are you planning to follow any of my suggestions or am I just talking to myself here?
(and no, I did not suggest you rename the directory).
Movies are different beasts than TV shows, so what works there is no guarantee of the same working for TV shows.
I have no experience with the IMDb TV scraper, you might want to try theTVDB scraper (if the site is up).

Wait.... I'm sorry, the MP4 directories are the ones that have the content set on. Was that the recommendation you were referring to? Did I miss any? I have read/followed the wiki regarding the naming conventions. I should be home tonight and I'll be able to mess with it a bit.

I can't for the life of me figure out why you have the 2006 in "South Park (2006)." The year thing is a scheme for the movies folder. South Park is a show that's been running since 1999. I don't necessarily think that's the issue here, since the scraper (I assume you are using TheTVDB, right?) does find the actual show, just not the episodes.
Have you been able to play the episodes in file view? Not just have them show up, but actually play them?
The way I see it, assuming you are scraping using TheTVDB, you've got one of three issues.
First, the host computer is not giving XBMC access to the top folder. If this is the issue, you might go to the host computer and change access settings to either owner or contributor. I don't believe XBMC needs to write anything to the folder, but anything is worth a try.
Second, somewhere, in one of those directories, an nfo file exists that is screwing up the scraping. As you said, you don't think there are any nfo files anywhere, so that's probably not it. Nevertheless, doing a search on the "tv shows" directory couldn't hurt.
Third, for whatever reason, XBMC hates your folder structure. I would start to fix this by deleting the "2006," as it serves no purpose. If that doesn't work, I'd move the South Park folder down one level, delete the "mp4" folder, and set content on the "tv shows" folder. If that doesn't work, I'd set content on the "South Park" folder and tell XBMC that the folder contains a single show.
Fourth (bonus suggestion), if you set content on the "mp4" folder, make sure you didn't accidentally say the "mp4" folder "contains a single show." If you did, it'll look for episodes from within the mp4 folder itself. In fact, it may very well look for the 6th episode from the 20th season of South Park in that case, and that episode does not exist.

The year in the movie's directory was part of a lot of trial and error. I've since removed it. Yes, I'm using TheTVDB as my scraper. Yes, I've been able to play the episodes when I browse them via the file view. NTFS and Share permissions are set to allow EVERYONE full control.
I renamed the MP4 directory and it seems to be fine. I'm not sure why it works for the movies and not the TV shows but whatever...I'm grateful. Well, all seems fine now.... Thanks for the help from all of you.
