I am aware that this is not closely related to xbmc, but I was unable to find any info on this in the Net.

...and as it is indirectly related to HTPC, somebody might have an answer.

So, I really don't want a blinking device in my living room, when it is not used. To be able to wake up my xbmc powered media center quickly, I am suspending it, instead of turning off completely.

...but then, the case led starts to blink which is nice in case of a notebook, but not in case of a htpc.

I am even not sure if it is controlled by the BIOS or OS, but is it possible to disable the blinking and just let the led turn off during suspended state?

Thanks!

no i don't think thats possible since it's not controlled by any software. You could unplug the led cable in the case and turn it off for good though.

What DVD-ROM brand do you have? Some DVD-ROMs (eg, Pioneer) has some glitch in the firmware that sends signal to the controller (IDE or SATA) every 1-2 seconds, making indicator to blink. Pioneer has fixed it at some version of the firmware (at least for my drive), but others DVD-ROMs still might have it..... Google 'led blinking DVD drive bug' or smth like that...

Well, I am talking about the power led, which is officially blinking in suspend mode.

I use a pair of scissors and some black electrical tape on all of those bright LED's. You should see the LED's they use on a DirecTV HR22 DVR. The DVR acts like a flood light in the evening.
