when I tried to play a movie (h264+5.1dts) through hdmi, I can see picture, but no sound. I have selected hdmi audio passthrough in xbmc. Is this a ATI driver issue or xbmc issue?

error log:

Have you checked "DTS" in the Audio Format tab for the HDMI audio renderer? (in Windows, not XBMC).

Sound should work over HDMI with 780g. You will need to select HDMI output under your mobo's bios. It will only do 2CH over HDMI and you can't have "digital" audio selected under XBMC you need to choose 'analog'.

If you want DTS,DD, or AC-3 passthrough you will have to use optical cable.

I have not looked into updated drivers (maybe it will work 100% over HDMI one day).

It does work though.

It does since Catalyst 9.3 for me.
