When I have a video running and then switch the resolution of XBMC it will first apply the new resolution to the interface. But as soon as I change back to the currently running video it will reset to the previous resolution.
For example: I am running in window mode 720p resolution. If I go to settings (while playing a movie) and change the resolution to 1680x1050 (my native resolution) it will switch to full-screen mode. But as soon as I jump back to the running video it will switch to 720p.
I am running XBMC pre-9.04 SVN: 18004 on Windows Vista x64.
Gui resolution isn't the same as playback resolution, two diferent things.

Wow, that response wasn't helpful at all.
How exactly are they related? Where do I change playback resolution - the setting as described in the online manual is not available in the build I use.
And why would a change in resolution apply to everything correctly but not while a video was playing?

Because you changed the GUI resolution but the playback resolution wasn't changed.
Image something like Windows res vs. game res. You can have windows set to 1650*1050 and run a game in 1024*768, changing the game res won't change windows res.
Set the Player playback resolution to best available this way when you change the GUI resolution the playback resolution will change also.
I think the significance of this thread is that it's possible to change the resolution of the GUI, after the begining of playback of a video, and making the change doesn't affect the video resolution as it should.
The fact that they're seperate may be the reason that it's possible, however, something should be done to address it. Either disallow changing of the resolution during playback as a quick fix. Or apply the resolution to the video after the resolution has been changed in the GUI.

Thank you so much. This is exactly what the thread is about.
