I use XBMC on a Dell Inspiron 1525 and wondered if it was possible to get xbmc to recognise the media buttons on this laptop (rewind/previous - stop - paly/pause - forward/next). There's also a button which starts the extremely crappy dell media centre - anyone know how to get this to start XBMC instead?

It explains the options available for binding keys on the keyboards/remotes/controllers with XBMC.
Traditionally there is an application which is used in conjunction with those media buttons. Your best bet would be to look around for the application which controls those buttons. Control Panel would be your best bet, and manually reassign them to keys on the keyboard.
