I own the Logitech Harmony ONE and the USB-UIRT device with the 1.4xp driver. Also using the external player option with Media Player Classic as external player. What is the best/most simple way to make my remote works for XBMC (only need ARROW, BACK and ENTER functionality) AND Media Player Classic (only need a few functions in this too).

Load their respective plug ins and then use the 'Exclusive enable' function.

No I don t use anything at this moment. So maybe you can help me on my way? Like I said: Looking for a simple straightforward solution to make my One work with XBMC and Media Player Classic both.

EDIT: just found GIRDER. Is this program good to use?

I prefer EventGhost to be honest.

I've set my up to emulate the Xbox 360 media remote.

I discovered that the lag I had was caused by interference from my plasma TV so I moved the USB-UIRT alway from it.

did u change any of the default xbmc eventsever settings?

also did you change/adjust any other settings in evenghost (like on the usbuirt plugin - pass short repeat codes as enduring events?) .. or any other macros, etc?

so .. setup harmony one as xbox 360 media remote , asign remote ir codes to actions in xbmc , and thats it? (the directional keys too?, or are you emulating keystrokes with them?)

when i get off work later, i will have to do some experimenting

I didn't change any settings in XBMC but I did change the Up, Down, Left, Right and Select to emulate their key presses (to keep sounds) and then I added an Autorepeat Macro to them.

It works almost perfect now! I ve put all delay times in the Logitech One on 0ms and the reaction response is great! However I still have some minor questions:

1. When I press eg. the right button of my remote AND KEEP IT PRESSED, he only slides ONE place to the right. Is it possible to config eventghost in some way so it behaves the same as pressing your keyboard right button AND HOLD IT?

2. You talk about Autorepeat Macro. What is that?

3. You say that it is possible to assign a sound to a few buttons I would like to have a 'click' correct? Can you tell me how to config this?

thxz!

1. See 2.

2. The 'Autorepeat Macro' does exactly what you want for 1. - repeats the button if it's held down.

3. The XBMC Actions don't (currently) produce navigation sounds so all I did was disable the Actions Up, Down Left, Right & Select and put in their emulated keyboard presses instead (plus the Auto Repeat macro).

thxz Hitcher!

I cannot find an auto-repeat function ANYWHERE in EventGhost 0.3.7 R851

Hitcher

I think it's found under the EventGhost macros.

EDIT: You can Copy & Paste it in to any functions you want repeating by the way.

it must be me but I really cannot find it anywhere. I can only:

- add plugin
- add folder
- add macro
- add event
- add action

When I expand the XBMC folder and right-click on eg. UP and select 'Configure Item' I get a notification: ''You can't configure this item. Only action, event and plugin items are configurable''

When I expand eg. UP I see the action 'XBMC: Up'. When right-clicking on this action and select 'Configure Item' I see a TEST button and a notification 'This action has no options to configure'.

Really don t know where to look elswhere....

When you right-click on it you want to select 'Disable', then right-click on it again and select 'Add Action' (not macro like I said before, sorry). From here you should see all the actions you can add.

Firstly you want to select 'Window', then 'Emulate Keystrokes' and choose the keys from the 'Special Key Tool' and insert, apply, OK. Repeat for the other actions.

Secondly right-click again and add another action. This time you'll want to select 'EventGhost', then 'Autorepeat Current Macro'. Once added this can be Copy & Pasted to the other buttons.

EDIT:

I just found out I think what you mean:

When I right-click on a macro (eg. UP) I can select 'Add Action...'. I can then select the EventGhost action 'Autorepeat current macro'. Now I only have to slect some values. Maybe you can give some advise on which values I have to set it:

Start first repetition after: 0,60 seconds (default)
with one repetition every: 0,30 seconds (default)

Increase repetition the next: 3,00 seconds (default)
to one repetition every: 0,01 seconds (default)

Dont know what those values do.

one more thing:
The only thing why you use a keystroke instead of the standard left, right, up and down buttons is because of the sounds correct?

Hitcher
2009-02-24, 16:57
Basically it waits for 0.60 seconds before repeating the keys at 0.30 second intervals, then (if the key is still held) at 3.00 seconds it changes the interval to 0.01 seconds so it speeds up.

I have set mine to the following -

0.60
0.30
2.00
0.03

Correct, and also 'Select'.

If the XBMC actions get sounds then we can just disable/delete the keystroke and re-enable the XBMC actions.

THX-UltraII

And how do I config to get a sound when using the keystrokes? Or is this done aut. now I configured this way?

for Select you choose {Enter} as keystroke correct?

you ve really helped me out great with this. I now fully understand how this works and how to config this. Do you also have experience with a question I posted in another topic?:

When I m going to use several plugins like to one for winamp, XBMC, Media Player Classic and some regular windows functions; how does eventghost sets it s priorities? eg. when I have both winamp and Media Player Classic running and I have programed eg. the arrow buttons of my Logitech Harmony ONE, which one has the priority then? Or do I have to add more devices to my Logitech and call one Winamp, one Media Player Classic etc.?

after this question I got a reply that I would need to use the Plugin called 'Task Create/Switch Events'. So I ve added this plugin and it is now shown in Autostart in the Configuration Tree. But now what; I don t know what to do next.

EDIT:

This is really strange. ONLY the auto-repeat works for my UP arrow :oo:
I m 100% sure that I put all the EXACT same auto-repeat actions with UP,DOWN, RIGHT and LEFT with THE SAME auto-repeat values. I ve tried to mess around with the delay times of the Logitech ONE but this doesn t help.

Each device has it's own timings.

Double check EventGhost has the repeat function in all the direction keys.

Would configuring the Harmony as an Xbox 360 Media Remote mess with my Xbox 360? Will it turn on my 360 when I only want it to turn on my PC or vice versa?

Only if you assign the Xbox 360 controller's 'Guide', 'Open/Close', 'On/Off' and 'Media Centre' buttons.

To start XBMC I just use the '#' button and to shut it down I use the '*' button.

I currently have the MCE remote, so I can wake and standby using the power button. So you have the # button wake the PC? I currently use Eventghost to launch XBMC from wake from standby system state.

Can you pastebin your eventghost config or PM me with it?

Hitcher

Not wake the PC just start XBMC.
