View Full Version : How to play DIVX from a DD connected to my iMac on my aTV ?
Hi all !
I think the title says all... My aTV is 2.3, but I have no idea how to set XBMC to play my DIVX that are in a external hard drive connected to my iMac... I know it is possible, but no idea on how to set XBMC/computer...
Can you help me please ?
Thanks :-)

Using SMB in OSX is a good idea because Boxee only uses SMB too. Configure your Mac (try to disable SMB share username and password authentication - enable guest), then in XBMC Go to
Settings-->Network-->SMB client
Enter in the the username and password for your Mac's SMB share
then Go to the Main Screen
Go to Video
Add a shortcut
Choose Windows Network at bottom and find your OSX computer. If it is not listed, in the shorcut choose SMB
then manually add the Mac's IP and share
smb://{IP Address of Mac}/{sharename}

Go to "System Preferences", and choose "Sharing".
In "Sharing" check the box labeled "File Sharing", and new options appear.
Under "Shared Folders" click the "+" and find the Folder containing your Divx Movies. Select it. You can assign a user or allow everyone "Read Only". The key here is to click "Options..." and select "Share Files and Folders using SMB". This will use a Samba Method which XBMC understands.
That's pretty much it. When you Browse for Windows Shares in XBMC you will see your Mac and select it to see your Divx Share.
Thanks guys ! It is working perfectly ! WOW !
