All right folks, I have now exactly one hair left on my head.
I have 720p MKV files. I used MediaEncoder and it resulted in an unplayable file. A file that'll not even play on the computer, let along my XBoX.
I then tried HandBrake. What do I get? Excellent Video. But NO AUDIO. Not even on the computer.
Then I tried AVS Video Converter. By far the easiest - fewer options to select. Gave me a very large file, almost 4GB. That's fine. Except that sound crackles and hisses.
Can anyone please give me a braindead tutorial to create my XViDs at 720 so I can still play them on my XBoX without loosing quality?

under windows, staxrip .. use the xbox high profile and turn off (uncheck) loop filter and cabac for mkv files
xvid and divx use different settings, just try small samples of the highest action scenes

I'm going to try this right after my MeGUI "XBOX Hi Res" profile created window finishes. I'll report results back here.
OKAY, Staxrip Errors out after opening the file with some error in what looks like Latin. Or ancient Greek perhaps. Can you please tell me where exactly I turn off the "Loop" filter and CABAC? Under "Filter" menu I did not see any "Loop" setting. As to CABAC, I'm totally clueless.
Rashid I am in the exact same bloody boat as you

This gent is a gem. He has been trying to help me very patiently with MeGUI. Look at his last post here.

I'm going to give this one more try. I bought VideoFab for $19.99. It works out of the box. But MeGUI definitely gives better picture. If only I could get Audio. But as I said, I'm gonna give MeGUI, yet another shot soon.
Good luck to the both of us.
