have an mce remote but no reciever, can i buy any old one?

Hi,

As the title says, I have an MCE remote from a media center which is now used as a workstation. The reciever is built into the tower and i don't want to take it out so I was wondering if i can just buy a cheap USB IR reciever to go with it.

I have the drivers on the disk, I'm hoping I can plug in the reciever install the remote drivers and then start using the new remote.

Have I got this right?
