I have a little problem that I am not too sure about. Here are my specs:

Dell Optiplex GX260
CPU: P4 2.26 Ghz
RAM: 1 GB (currently)
HDD: 20 GB
OS: Ubuntu 8.10 Server
GPU: ATi HD 3450 (from ASUS, AH3450)
TV: Vizio 32" Connect to XBMC system using HDMI (card has adapter on it)
Audio: Digital (HDMI)
Kernel: 2.6.27-7-server
ATi Drivers: 8.561 (8.12, not the new 9.1)

Here is the Xorg I was using (testing other xorg configurations):

I have tried videos I had on my Main Computer system (ogm files I believe) going though the network to XBMC and they work just fine, but when I try playing a DVD, the frame rate drops to around 12 or so and it moves slow and affects the audio. After stopping the DVD, I tried playing one of the files at worked before and it starts acting like the DVD (dropping the frame rate down to about 12 and the audio is messing up because it is moving slow). My system install was based on Olympia's Wiki (he used Intrepid mini to get the latest kernel, but I have problems and found out server can give me a minimal install). Any one have any thoughts?

Well I got the video working, but the sound is still bad. Any thoughts?

Here is the output for Alsa Audio Debugger.

I have the same problem. Did you find a resolution? Also, could you tell me how you fixed the video because I haven't managed that yet.

My system is a similar spec to yours. Low spec, but I don't have any problem playing Xvid files over the network so I'm surprised at the DVD problems. I'm getting 12fps and 82% cpu.
