OK i though i would have a change of skin today and picked PM3HD but i don't like the layout so i started editing away and here it is i added Submenus for videos and programs you can customize the locations also i have added in multiimages for these new menus so games has its own backgrounds applications and you get the point.

1. Enable disable the mod via the Skin settings.
2. Multiimage for the new menus added in Games, TV shows and Plugins and more.
3. Custom Plugins Button editable via Skin Settings.
4. New Submenus for Programs ( Called Other when enabled ) this has Applications, Games, Arcade and Homebrew all can have custom paths editable via the Skin Settings.
5. New Submenu for Videos has Videos, TV Shows, Custom Plugin, Videos - File View (Can be disabled) and Plugins.
6. New Fanart, Episodes and Seasons Thumbs Look. Redone all views with <include> tag making it easier to edit.
7. Added in Showcase view for Library mode TVshows and Movies.
8. I have separated all views now so it will be easier for you peeps to edit them.
9. Added Coverflow view + Fixed all views no bugs in them as far as i can see.

I use an older version of PM3-HD one before the Coverflow view was added i may add this in later the reason i use this build is i use an older version of XBMC and the newer skins don't work on these but the older skins work on any version so it was the logical solution.

if you want to remove it then you need to edit custom_Videomenu_1112.xml but this means removing buttons and changing there onup and ondown properties also you would need to edit the texture.
all new strings are in Languages\English\Strings.xml so you can rename them here.
OK am currently in the process of redoing all the textures like so as i watched Tron and i think this looks cool let me know what you think please.

yeah you need to put in this plugin://video/plugin folder name
I may see if I can make it like add source but dont thin you can as adding the folder through the folder browser doesn't work hens why it's typing it in.

Ok update on page 1 you can now disable the video view button and it includes my Tron skin.
My question was kinda vague I guess. Changing to your look of Tron does it reduce the texture size so it loads faster or did you change it at all?

the tron skin is not SD thought it can still be used as I use it you still need textures.xpr as not all textures have been replaced.
As for memory and speed use xbox textures.xpr these textures are halfed so smaller foot print faster to load.
If you want to make a new tron xpr just extract the images from it and resize them by 50%

Ok redone Page 1 looks nicer also updated the submenu mod new fanart view, Seasons and Episodes thumbs look.
also updated the Tron skin fixed the background and added in the textures for the new fanart thumbs.

Currently I have "MythTV" set as a custom source under Videos and used ActivateWindow(videofiles,MythTV) which happily goes off the the MythTV section however backing out first goes to the Video Files root, then the main menu. I tried putting a "return" on the end of the above but that then stops it going directly to MythTV, going instead to Video Files root.
If anyone could help me with the "getting back to main" bit, I would appreciate it.

Yup, tried that. Instead of automatically going to that source, it drops to Video > Files view first. Without the "return" in that command, it DOES go directly to the source but returns (via "back" on my MCE remote) to the Video > Files first, then the Videos sub menu.
Basically:
ActivateWindow(videofiles,MythTV,return) -> Video > Files view
ActivateWindow(videofiles,MythTV) -> MythTV options (which is off Video -> Files view)
This is probably not directly related to your skin version, was just wondering if anyone else knows how to do it.
BTW, I did create a custom entry in the script option that goes directly to the MythTV source but again does not return directly to the submenu like TV Shows and Videos does. Thats how all this started :)
Oh, and MythTV is an open source PVR.

Kudos! I love the mod! I hated having to go to the "root dir" to pick Movies or TV. It made the skin feel kinda cheap and unfinished in a way (NO disrespect intended!, just a great improvement on an already excellent skin)
I tinkered (Just starting to learn the way the XML's work) and made the last button "Internet Video" which links directly to video plugins for Youtube, Hula ect.

how do i get to choose movie genre in this mod?
you need to remove ,return from line 451 in custom_Videomenu_1112.xml this will allow you to go back through the menus to get to where you want.
or you can remove ,movietitles this will act like the old menu.
Update on Page1
OK i have been mucking about with the Showcase View and come up with this in this one you can see more of the Fanart but you get to also see the nice Thumb but am not sure if the thumb should be a little smaller.
Update 1: Will be posting one later today fixed both Showcase views so now there is no more thumb jumping when deselecting a thumb the only prob now is i cant have both views selectable in the skin you will need to choose one but i will keep at it to add them both in.
Update 2: Ok finished the Showcase views got the coverflow views working as well just need to add my overlays to them (make them nicer looking) and that's me done so should be done in a couple of hours.
Update 3: Ok finished all views except the Coverflow Music view still need to do that but shouldn't take to long but here are 3 images of the final Showcase view and the final Coverflow view with fanart also these views are all available in Video file mode so if you don't use library you still get what use library users get (except movie info).

OK here is a small peek as what iam doing i have redone the Showcase view and also added in movie info and tv show info if you pause on a file for 5 seconds also i probably wont be doing the stuff that ekim232 is doing but i will help him when and if he needs it (if you were wondering) i have also added in an Xbox mode this will speed up the views when browsing as its jittery if this is not turned on (Xbox Only - animation, side panels and stuff) i will also be making other adjustments to make this as Xbox friendly as possible as i only use the xbox i don't have the PC hooked up to the TV also the xbox is alot more energy efficient. :)
i may add in media flags but i am not really fussed about these.
If your wondering the reason i have put in Xbox mode is because of the overlays and the size of the textures i used to get to look nice and crisp.
also any feed back would be great bugs, suggestions and criticism are all welcome thank you for reading.

One suggestion is the take the genre field away from the pop out menu, since it is already listed below the movie name. You could use that field to show some other info.

Cheers i could add in media flags in there but am not sure as i don't really use them i mean there all in the NFO files so i suppose i could add them in not sure.
am thinking of just redoing PM3-HD making my own skin out of it as i have a vision for the main menu but not sure.
I only did the media flags for something to do and to learn the coding. I really don't like any flag that does not have a listitem property and I am not a fan of throwing in a bunch of audio & video information into my nfo's where they don't belong. I will branch out more with flagging when it is a solid feature, rather than a crafty workaround.

Interesting concept in my opinion it would look better if the were all laid out horizontal other than that it's a nice idea i can see you have put a fair amount of thought and time into it.

Kind of defeats the point if it's horizontal as it's designed to be simplistic using only the Dpad or Dkeys but thank you for your suggestion.
OK here is a screen of a video in the back on xbox there will be two versions one that works on xbox fine and one for PC (Higher rez textures) though i may just code it into the xbox mode i have already coded in so if your on PC turn it off then you will get all the bells and whistles also you can use multiimages on the icons on the home screen but i recommend a Rez of 256x143 for xbox (any bigger and they will disappear if there is a video or song playing) and what ever size you want on PC.

Update: OK just coded it into the skin so if you select Xbox mode it will use lower rez textures and if you disable it the opposite.
Update: ok been working on the menu done the submenus for it now i started on the info panels for the showcase view and came up with this think it look nice also i need to know if you can setfocus on a default button ie my center button as the default button always so if i go into setting and exit out it will be back on the center button instead of being on the last focused button.
also why doesn't the studio tag work for tv shows they have them in the nfo files.

sorry to post again in my thread but am needing some peeps to test this new home screen and views please as i am the only one lol and rather than releasing it then having to fix it i would rather it was all working correctly first time round so if any one want to give it a whirl then give me a PM will send you the link thank you.
also please note this mod is more for peeps that use a remote well the new direction select mode is as is use the remote more than the pad.
also the settings will have its own screen for this mod they are just in with the others the now also some multiimages don't have there enable buttons yet only for file view and the applications menu.

The reason there not there is because i use a version that is older than the new ones this feature isn't present in my version though its added now :) so it will be in the new version.

You want weather fanart? that's easy will add this if that is what you mean or do you mean the weather info on the home screen when you highlight the weather button? that should still work also i have just ported all my work over to a new revision of PM3.HD so all is well all the new features are present + all mine just need to fix views now lol.

My first suggestion is to see just the weather icon when xbmc starts (like when you point your mouse on weather without cliking)

For the (mini) audio contriols, it should be nice to have it in music (as the PM3.HD) and in the home view.

I use only my mouse to control XMBC. So i cant press any keys.
It is for that a mini audio control under parameters should be great for me :)

First off, I really enjoy this mod because it's very intuitive and reduces button pressing. I do have some questions though.
I'm using the 13/04/2009 update and cannot figure out how to get the custom plugin background to work under Videos > Plugins. Also, the Applications button under Other doesn't go to the path I specified under Extras > Applications Custom Locations. I'm trying to get it to open up Q:\plugins\programs\ but it fails to go there. I've also tried E:\Apps\XBMC\plugins\programs, but I get the same result. Instead, it goes to "xbmc media center - Programs" where it shows the Program plugins menu and Add source. I can eventually click on Program plugins and it goes to where I want it, but I was wondering why I was unable to get it to go there by pointing to its location.
I've been able to mess around with the labeling and made "Other" become "Games/Apps" and "Arcade" turn into "Xbox Games" and put in pics for everything. It's the first time I've tweaked the inside of a skin and am amazed at how customizable they are.
I've tried figuring out how to get Programs to point to where I specified under settings and get Video Plugins to read where I specified, but it's beyond my limited scope of relabeling buttons.
Which files need to be edited to get these issues to work? I've looked in Home.xml, the custom_xxx.xml's, MyVideo.xml, MyPrograms.xml and haven't found it or have overlooked it.

Thank you I will have a look though it could be because the new special thing in xbmc as I use my own build and it works 100%.

HI really enjoying this mod. I like the way clicking videos takes you to : videos, TV shows, not set etc.
My question is how do I change the 'not set' into something different ie Music videos or documentaries etc.:sniffle:

OK so I can change the name.
How do I direct it to my music video folder? The red part? I've looked at the other buttons and would like something similar to videos think its myvideolibrary:sniffle:
EDIT: Thought of a request too. The new std build has 'Mirror image' in the fanart which I really like as some of the fanart works better mirror. Will you be adding it to your mod?

I've made some tweaks to this to make it more xbox-friendly. All files are located in the 720p folder under the skin. I've made these tweaks on my xbox and my father's xbox and they work quite nicely since some features don't work like suspend and hibernate. Also the xbox is more likely to have Xbox games on it whereas a PC, Mac, or Linux wouldn't.
in custom_1113_Appsmenu.xml:
to change Games button under Other category into "Video Games"
Change:
<label>[B]$LOCALIZE[1992][/B ]</label>
to:
<label>[B]Video Games[/B ]</label> or
to change "Arcade" to "Xbox Games"
change:
<label>[B]$LOCALIZE[1993][/B ]</label>
To:
<label>[B]Xbox Games[/B ]</label>
In DialogButtonMenu.xml
to change Exit XBMC to Restart XBMC
Change all instances of <description>Exit xbmc</description>to <description>Restart xbmc</description>
and change all instances of <onclick>XBMC.Quit()</onclick> to <onclick>XBMC.RestartApp()</onclick>
and change all instances of <label>$LOCALIZE[13012] XBMC</label> to <label>Restart XBMC</label>
To change Suspend and Hibernate to File Manager (the pic doesn't change, but suspend doesn't work on the Xbox so this is useful)

to <description>File Manager button</description>
and <onclick>XBMC.Suspend()</onclick> and <onclick>XBMC.Hibernate()</onclick>

To change the "Other" button to say "Games/Apps" open Home.xml

* I had to put an extra space after the [/B ] so that it would show on the forum. When you edit, do NOT include the extra space so that you get the bold letters.
I hope that someone can find these tweaks useful to make this great skin even better for their xbox.

Hello all together,
I have a question about the "Not Set"-Button.
I renamed it to "VDR" and now I want the button to start something like "vdr-sxfe xvdr://localhost --fullscreen --width=1024 --height=768"
Is there anyone who has an idea how I can realize this?
I know there are some guys working on an implementation of vdr into xbmc but you can use VDRś OSD which is one of VDRś best and most important for me.
By the way is it possble to rename the submenu buttons TV-Shows and Movies to TV-Serien and Filme.

Hi,
The video folders I add are showing a fanart by default, but I have no idea where this is coming from...
My folder structure is:
d:\videos\movies\ok\<genre folders>\<movie files>
d:\videos\movies\ver\<genre folders>\<movie files>
I add as a source d:\videos\movies, there is no file in this dir, no hidden files either, just subfolders.
This is what XBMC shows when I'm in the root of the source folder d:\videos\movies in fanart view mode:

Any idea how I can remove or replace it?
I've already tried removing and adding again the source folders, which cleared the library.

Is there a way to shrink the space used to show the title and length of movie or decrease the size of the thumbnails so that more of the fanart is visible? Whenever I choose fanart, I have to pick something that doesn't have much going on at the bottom since it'll always be covered up by the thumbnails.

When I use your mod on my 12-30-2008 Xbox version it has what looks like a cover flow artifact on the fanart screen.
I figured that I must be using an old version and updated to the newest and it says "Incompatable skin. We require skins of version 2.00 or higher.
Is it possible to know what files and what is needed to be changed to have the sub menu mod working. I had it working a while back and had to reload XBMC due to a failure of some sort. I got rather used to the submenu and well I'm kinda bumbed not to have it still.
sorry but i couldnt wait anymore to have the music control as the orginal.
I took PM3.HD TV, Movies... which is more updated.
