i have intrepid server version running latest nightly xbmc build. This seemed to be running fine last week, rebooted today and xbmc wont start, strange red garbled line on top and system shuts down. I disabled the auto start of xbmc, i now see that fglrx fails, i am running the latest drivers form ATi for the HD3200, so what gives?

I don't think it's my xorg.conf file, i don't think that gets read if you only boot to the term window. I don't think it's xbmc, due to the fail of fglrx on boot.

i do i trouble shoot this issue, i have tried several different version of ATi drivers and all end with the same result. i have tried many different xorg.conf configs and still nothing.

For a brief moment i thought about installing vista, but that is really not an option, way to fat for htpc.

Ideas?

After several hours of troubleshooting i installed envy, i used the envyNG tool to install the ATi driver, type envyng -t for the textual interface. Once installed i rebooted and same fglrx version, but now it works.

go figure, and to think i was considering windows....
