You are running XBMC on a 64bit system right? Unfortunately it's a known issue ..

that is correct. Ok then I map them up in nautilus before instead as of now.

Btw, using OS mounted SMB shares should be a lot faster than accessing them via smb://.

Is that right? I thought they were the same. Should I do that on my 32bit install too?

I mount my SMB share in FSTAB using CIFS. Works excellent, and I just add the source as a local, I have to type in the path, but it's a small price to pay.

Yeah, you should really do this. You will notice the speed improvement especially on big library updates.
