Can someone give me a suggestion on adding documenting to my libraries. I have a set of PBS documentaries that I am having difficulty getting scraper to recognize/add etc.

Thank you

If the docu only ran one year than season still needs to be specified.

example:

Planet Earth.s01.e02.mkv

Thank for your response. Would it categorize different documentary series in a hierarchical manner? For example, NOVA, American Experience etc. listed in different hierarchies just as TV series are.

the best way that i have found is to search for the documentary on thetvdb.com

If you mean would it have a separate directory so in the root you'd see tv shows, movies, and documentaries folders, then no. Kinda makes sense though....most documentaries are quite different from what I picture as a tv show.

PS: but you will easily be able to identify them as I think they're listed under the documentary genre

I am not looking for a separate directory in the root. What I am getting right now is: when I browse under TV Shows, I find "sub-directories" for some programs such as NOVA appear alongside "sub-directories" for TV Series such as CSI. However, when I browse under "NOVA", no episode (that I have a copy of) gets listed whereas when I browse under CSI, I find that all episodes get listed and can be played.

I think the reason it is working for me for TV series is because I found a good instruction for organizing folders by series, season and episode, and for file naming convention. However, I could not find any such instruction for documentaries and my results have mostly been based on my uneducated random trials!

So, how do you recommend I organize my documentaries and what naming convention should I use?

well ifyou want them named, just go to thetvdb.com and see how they're listed and name the nova episodes to match, as if they were just a normal tv show (ie, Nova - s01e05 - The Scablands.avi). no idea ifthats a real example, just showing you what i mean. Even if there aren't any perceived "seasons" i think you need to list it as season 1 or wahtever it shows in the tvdb for it to be identified correctly

That seem to do it. Thank you for the suggestions.
