View Full Version : Screen refresh rate - what's is that constantly changing number on the info screen?

Hi,

I was browsing through the system info screens and run across a peculiar thing: in the information about the video system there is info re: current screen resolution and refresh rate. There is though one more number at the very end of the line, also measured in Hz, but that number is constantly changing, for example:

1024 x 768 (50 Hz refresh) <number> Hz

The '<number>' in the line above is changing from around 62Hz to 85Hz.... Might it be that I'm running on an unnecessarily low refresh rate and can bump it up (it's the resolution of my analog TV screen)?

Thanks,

Vlad

If you're using an analog connection, the then number will never be perfectly stable as it's an imperfect medium by nature. IMO it doesn't really matter as long as you're getting a watchable image :)

Sounds like you have vsync off, so we're just rendering as fast as possible.

Oh, I see. Would the 'auto sync' feature improve anything? From what I read it somehow interferes with displaying subtitles....
