Hi all,
I'm going to reinstall my XBMC and change XP for Vista. I am concern about the library, about if I can move it to Vista and keep all the data.
Is there another thing I should be prepared for once I installed Vista? I've seen that some of you have problems with Vista
Thanks
Here is another thread that might be of help: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45045
And in regards to Vista, I do not prefer it, I have no positive input for it.

That other thread is pretty accurate. If you export to multiple files (I forget the actual name of this option), each folder will get an nfo of your current info. Then, when you install on the new computer, you can just add those folders, set content, then scan for new content, and it'll reinstall all the old info.
It's probably a lot easier to just open an explorer window in XP, type %appdata% in the address bar, and make a copy of the XBMC folder. When you install Vista, put that copy back in %appdata%.

I have done this multiple times and it works just fine. If you go from XP <--> Vista, you just need to edit the path in XBMC\userdata\profiles.xml to reflect your current OS.

I can't believe I didn't think of that. That would be very simple.

Other thing....
anyone knows a tutorial on how to configure Vista for a media center? I need help on configuration like boot splash, hide mouse, automatically start xbmc in fullscreen and stuff like that ?
Thanks in advance

I have done this multiple times and it works just fine. If you go from XP <--> Vista, you just need to edit the path in XBMC\userdata\profiles.xml to reflect your current OS.
I'm going to copy something that is in the XBMC Manual
"All user-specific data is stored in The UserData Folder, which for a standard installation is found in the users profile directory, which may be found in C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\XBMC on Windows XP or C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\XBMC on Vista. XBMC will not alter this directory on an upgrade, so your data will remain safe between upgrades of XBMC. "
Then, you have to edit profiles.xml and set the correct path.
For me, works awesome !!!
