I tried searching but came up with nothing. Can you install multiple XBMC builds in Windows under different install directories for troubleshooting? or are there components what would conflict?

you can but you should start XBMC.exe with -p (portable). Then all data will be written in the installation directory (admin rights might be needed)

yes,

use the -p for the portable profiles inside the XBMC folder (only for the latest SVN builds)

Sorry if this is a noob question but how do you start XBMC with -p, is that just windowed mode? Because when I install XBMC for windows on my computer, in the start menu under XBMC there is XBMC or XBMC (Windowed).

I believe the -p switch is in reference to svn builds which only come with the one .exe file. Thus one needs to copy the shortcut and add the -p switch for a windowed mode shortcut.
