Xbmc 8.10 will not start on Vista Ultimate 64 bit system

Hi guys, i hope someone can help me. I am having trouble getting xbmc up and running on my new vista installation. I have vista ultimate 64 bit SP1 installed on my machine with the following setup.

Athlon 64 x2 4200+
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT (driver version 181.22)
2.5 GB Ram

Initially i recieved the error on starting saying that it was missing mvcsr71.dll so i duly searched this site for the answer. i downloaded the dll and placed it in the \\windows\system folder. The error message disappeared but xbmc will not start. I have posted the log here- http://pastebin.com/m116b319c

I have xbmc running on my laptop (vista home premium 32bit) and it installed in seconds and looks fantastic so i am keen to get this up and running.

use search next time...

download an updated SVN build (link in my sig) download and install updated video drivers (not via windowsupdate) that support opengl

Thanks for taking the time to reply. i have done as suggested and installed the driver from the nvidia site, although this was the driver that was installed. i downloaded the latest build from your link, uninstalled xbmc, installed your build and i have the same result. I just get a vista window box saying that xbmc has had a problem and needs to close. Anyone got any ideas?

can you do a fresh (so remove your userdata) install the latest build, try it, and post the log here ?

I went back to the beginning, unistalled xbmc, removed the .dll files, rebooted, installed the .dll's, installed your build Jester and it worked perfectly this time. :grin: Thank you very much for taking the time to assist me and keep up the good work. XBMC is the best! Now to go play with it!
