View Full Version : Yikes, mms streams are causing my PC to reboot!
Using Jester 17541 whenever I try to play an mms stream the system locks up and reboots
Windows recovers from a serious error and logs this in the Event Log:
Error code 0000007f, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.
I tried using the ESPN plugin and the CNN ones

According to Microsoft, there's something wrong with your hardware-

Looking at other reports for "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP: Divide by Zero" it does seem to happen when there's an incompatibility between graphics drivers and software.
So the first thing you should do is upgrade your graphics card drivers. It's unlikely to be RAM or CPU if you only get the problem when playing MMS streams (even though Microsoft say it is).
If this doesn't help, try to prove that XBMC is the problem and not mplayer. Download the mplayer Windows binary and the codecs, and try to play the same MMS stream and see if you get the same problem.
For future reference, what's your graphics card, driver version and version of Windows?
XP, Radeon 9600 using Catalyst
Everything else plays fine in XBMC.
Could someone try to reproduce? If they can't, I will debug
there have been some tweaks and changes related to MMS, can you try my latest build and see if the problem remains?
ps.
proper error report:
