View Full Version : Different userdata for fullscreen and windowed xbmc

This seems strange, but in newer builds I've noticed that the fullscreen and windowed versions of XBMC seem to be keeping track of separate libraries/userdata folders. Libraries from one don't show up in the other and so on.

As a test, I did a clean install of XBMC, deleting the XBMC folder in program files (via the uninstall) and Application Data. In the fullscreen version, I scanned in a couple of episodes of Planet Earth into the video database. These database files showed up in the userdata folders in both Program Files and Application Data. I opened the windowed version, and scanned a smallish folder of audio into XBMC. The music database file showed up in the application data folder, but not in the program files userdata folder.

However, the video library contents show up only in the fullscreen version. Likewise, the audio components show up only in the windowed version.

I can provide a debug log or two if needed (can't at the moment otherwise it would be in this post)

P.S. Forgive me if this is confusing, poorly written, full of misspellings, and so forth. Its extremely late right now and I'm barely coherent.

I knew I would leave some important stuff out. I think I literally fell asleep 3 or 4 times while trying to submit that post.

Anyway, I'm running it on XP SP3. Hardware is intel c2d, nvidia 8400 gpu...I can't imagine that's relevant but a little extra info never hurt anyone. Right now it's running on the r17558 Jester compile, but its been like that for the past couple jester builds posted for me.

One shortcut seems to have the -p parameter, the other not.

Is this intended behavior? I suppose I should have asked that in my initial post. Doesn't seem very logical, anyway.

EDIT: Or do you mean that this is a problem on my end somehow? I haven't modified any shortcuts. Hmmm. I'll take a look.

The behavior changed and since some revisions -p means portable mode (saves everything in the xbmc installation directory).
If you didn't removed the previous installation remove at least the -p from the startmenu entry

Yeah, WiSo is correct. That beviour was changed in SVN about 2 days ago approx. The -p is now to enable portable mode, which makes more sense honestly, and without -p uses the User\ directory like he said. Weird problem i am seeing since that day's SVN is for some reason it's showing double of each skin.

ah, that makes sense. Also, I had that double skin thing going on too

Double skin thing was fixed by WiSo in r17556.

Cool, I haven't build today's yet, i'm about to do that now actually. Thanks for the quick response Jmarshall.

I take it that when it now creates the shortcuts they don't have -p?

Correct.
