Make sure your xbox is properly configured to connect to the internet. Otherwise you will not be able to use weather. Scripts are explained in the MANUAL (http://xbmc.org/wiki/index.php?title=Xbox_Media_Center_Online_Manual) under the General Usage section. I would suggest reading a lot of the manual as it will help you understand a lot more about XBMC. As far as your movies go, you'll need to make sure they are encoded properly. 0dB is a reference used for the maximum output in electronics. Anything below that is a way to quiet down sources that are to loud. You can also bump the volume of individual movies up some in the settings of the movie which is also explained in the manual HERE (http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=OSD_Audio_and_Subtitle_Settings).

If every movie is quiet then I would check your ripper settings. If something is wrong with the audio of the movie itself then bumping it up 5dB might not even help. How did you rip your movies? What format are they?
