Using rev17541, all the other visualizations work fine, but ProjectM causes the interface to hang until killed (audio player thread continues to run). Also, each visualization is listed twice in the settings and in the audio player "change visualization" window. Log showing a successful load of one visualization followed by the unsuccessful load of ProjectM follows.

I still have issues. ProjectM won't hang now, but it only shows a black screen instead of the visualization. If I press the "o" key to get visualization details, then XBMC will either crash or hang. All the other visualizations are still fine.

I'm not using any SVN revision but the actual 8.10 final release and I was just testing XBMC visualizations and found out that ProjectM has a couple of issues.

What I noticed was that at first, I was able to select a different preset for ProjectM but the next times, I couldn't. Clicking on the OSD button to open the preset window, crashed XBMC. The OSD preset settings button also crashed XBMC. Another thing I noticed was that in the main XBMC menu, the preview of the visualization was centered in the screen instead of being centered in the preview area is the others visualizations. Hopefully, I'm making myself clear explaining this...

Just my 2cents...

8.10 is obsolete and the problems are known. The latest svn releases contain a total different version.
projectM gui settings are still crashing XBMC and therefore are disabled. The only problem I currently have is that after the special path update projectM can't find any presets anymore -> http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/5853
A workaround is to enter the full path to the presets in \userdata\visualisations\projectM.conf.

What do you mean by "8.10 is obsolete"?

8.10 is no longer actively developed. All improvements and bug fixes are going into the SVN.

@ WiSo: The preset issue sounds like what could be causing my problem, as the blank screen is probably indicative of no presets loaded. It's still rather bad behavior for ProjectM to crash XBMC when it can't find presets, though. Anyway, I'll try adding the full path to my projectm.conf and see what that does for me. Thanks.

If projectM doesn't find any presets it displays its default preset which works fine for me without a crash.

Hi
If I enable ProjectM on build17596 all I get is a black screen which I can exit ok but if I then try to play a video xbmc hangs.
All the other vis work ok.

I had a similar problem with a black screen. It turns out that under the USERDATA dir there was visualization folder. I deleted that folder and ProjectM started working again (the folder was subsequently recreated by XBMC).
