[MOD] PMIII (Project Mayhem III skin) Movie and Music Fanart Mod - (Like PM3.HD)

Tested In PAL/NTSC 4:3 and 16:9, 480I/P, 720P, and 1080I

Please note I take no credit for any image or code. I just did a bunch of cutting and pasting:confused2:

12/09/08 - Fanart added to TV Show list and TV Seasons like PM3HD released with Atlantis. Video overlay problem still exists

01/28/09 - Updated skin code to latest build as of 01/27/09. edited DialogVideoInfo.xml so the Get Fanart button would now appear in all locations that it appears in PM3HD
01/30/09 - Added back in language folder and file so "Fanart View" will show when view is selected. Brought left pane out like in PM3HD so it can be activated with mouse as well as the left key. Corrected a few font calls in VideoNav to correct fonts.

**Please note you MUST be using the XBOX patched verison of XBMC for Media Flagging to show up on an Xbox. This currently is only the case for the Xbox.
Tested in all views Pal/NTSC

I like this skin mod, but I wish there was a way to put the llist of movies on the bottom so that the fanart spread better across the whole screen from left to right. Kinda of like this:

wonderful news! I hope you will share once it is completed. I hope for a day if and when aoen stark runs on my xbox but for speed and consistency, pmIII cannot be beat.

I love all the fanart stuff and glad someone is porting it to the original pmIII. I am not ready to let go of my xbox yet....

Btw noticed a couple of issues playing with it on Win32.

Fanart View, the name of the view does not appear for me.
Moving mouse over the right side does not bring up the dialog (like in PM3.HD).
Only keyboard will bring it up.

The left side text area is considerably bigger than the allowed text length, this obscuring more of the Fanart than necessary.

I missed adding the language file when I built the last revision.

The pane issues on the left and right are a matter of adjusting the end points for the panes in the Video/MusicNAV.xml's. I'll make the adjustments on them and change out the download file once I get to the office.

it came with the last t3ch build dated 25th jan but like i said it works differently to the way you have done it.
your version looks cleaner to me.

This build I have on my Xbox only has Fanart for TV Shows, which has been there from the introduction of Fanart.

I noticed earlier tonight when I tried it on my Xbox in 4:3.
(and comparing it to PM3.HD on 16:9).

It seems to allow for a scrollbar, which does not appear in every view. Not sure though what the criteria is for it in the original.

I just checked it out with the same T3ch and downloaded the skin copy in the link. It loaded up fine.

One note though. when you unrar the downloaded skin, the file structure will be: folder Project_Mayhem_III_Fanart and in that folder will be a folder called Project Mayhem III Fanart. FTP the second folder ie. "Project Mayhem III Fanart" to the skins directory.

I will look into fixing this in the next release. Hope that helped

I didn't look for that. that is most likely the problem. I will test tonight. thanks for quick response and thanks for ur hard work. I checked out pm3.hd and I just don't find it as satisfying as PMIII. not sure why. I am waiting for aeon stark but I always return to PMIII no mater how many skins I try.

Just downloaded your mod today and have had a quick play and i like it alot. I am using it on my xbox and i havn't had any problems so far.

I did notice that there was a clear box above where the movie poster/dvd cover is displayed. I havn't checked my settings to make sure i'm in widescreen so maybe thats why its displaying up there???

If your using the lastest T3ch (2-18-09) then thats the problem. That problem was fixed by the Dev's after that build was compiled. It doesn't have that issue in the 1-25-09 build.

no problem at all. take all the time you need. we all appreciate what you have accomplished so far. I would just like to see the dvd view that is similar to this in PMIII have the covers lowered and fanart displayed all while keeping in line with the PMIII look and feel. That to me would make for a great view in PMIII. I love the work you have done, but think that the covers at the bottom and the fanart behind makes for the best look over all.

PMIII HD is very slow to respond for my 5 x windows setups.

I have edited the Home.xml ( in both PAL & PAL16x9) to include one button for Movies, and another for Television. Tested both out( 16:9 on my 42" HDTV....and 4:3 on my 32" SDTV) Both work great!! I sacrificed the Scripts button to do so ( I don't use Scripts), but I did add Scripts to my Favorites to keep a way to get there( if I ever need to).

I had to take the 3 pictures out of the "home-scripts" folder and replace them with pictures suited to the new TV button. It all works great.

If anyone wants the Home.xml(s) and the new Texture.xpr ( so they too can have seperate Movie and Television buttons) let me know.....and I'll upload them.

Just installed the latest xbmc 9.04 live cd onto my harddrive and copied the latest Project Mayhem III Fanart Mod into /home/xbmc/.xbmc/skin and get the following error "Incompatible skin. We need skins that are 2.00 or higher."

Maybe when you unpacked the rar file.Instead of doing the option unpack here you did unpack to Project Mayhem III Fanart.
Than you have double folder of Project Mayhem III Fanart.So look in the folder you unpacked to see if you have there the folder Project Mayhem III Fanart.This is the 1 you need to upload.

Hope I'm not treading on your toes here PrimusZa1.....but for those who like this Mod. I have combined this Mod ( from PrimusZa1) and a Home Menu Mod ( of my own) and Updated the look of PMIII to the sleeker look of PM3.HD. I've dubbed it "PM3.5"

Works extremely well for Xbox Users....great looks of PM3.HD with 37-39 free Mb of RAM.
Works great for HTPC users too!

Not in the least..As I said in the beginning all I ever did was cut and paste allot of the code from Jezz_X's PM3HD and adjusted the screen ratios for 4:3 16:9 and PAL/NTSC. I'll keep this thread updated as need for now and if you want send you any changes I have on the fan art side. I just wish Jezz_X would include some of the changes into the official PM III skin. I feel the plain Xbox SD/TV regulars who were very comfortable with the pure stability of the PM III skin were left behind. There are a ton of other great skins out there for the other platforms but when it come down to it PM III is and probably always will be the Xbox skin.

BTW I was just in your state over the weekend for the Coca Cola 600 :D

hopefully u can add skinbased flags as an option. native will be great but it is not ready for prime time yet. would be great to have both and toggle on off whichever you prefer.

One other thing... Do you think you could add the dvd and cd case from ronnie's Transparency as an option? would love to have that as well. bring a freash look to pmIII. If you do not want to deviate too much form the PM3.HD standard, I understand. I just feel that this skin is one of a kind and almost like it's own skin.

thanks for being so responsive and open to ideas. I really feel that the original PMIII is still one of the best skins out from a navigational and readability point of view. It is intuitive and not confusing for a new user to pick up and navigate right off the bat.
I just think it needs a little polish of some of the new features to bring it up to date.
The cd/dvd cases look very nice and also fix the aspect ratio of any thumbnails you have downloaded. they may appear distored slightly, but for the most part they take slightly different sized thumbs and make them all uniform, the gloss of the case makes them look nice as well.

I think the cd/dvd case and the view I mentioned will take this skin to a new level. It is my favorite skin, I am working on porting the bookmarks back into it as well. I have also used the new home.xml posted on here with the movies and tv shows seperated. that is the extent of my abilities. I wish I could do what you do, But for the most part, you have added just about what I would have to the skin while maintaining the PMII look and feel.

Sorry this is taking so long as you can see I have gotten all the Media tagging updates for all the views including the Cover flow view. It is actually ready now for upload but I want to finish updating the skin to the last Project Mayhem III (PM3) code seeing a few pieces of my code are older then the last update. Here's a few picks:

Just an option. also, did you test coverflow and see what I was talking about in regards to the smoothness of it left vs. right? or am i the only one that it seems kind of jumpy compared ot the coverflow in ekim's "operation"?

mediastream redux puts the rating (stars) and runtime under the title with flags in coverflow as well. looks nice. just a thought. the work you are doing is fantastic!

No you were right about the coverflow view. I rewote the coverflow code again and fixed the problem and while I was at it cleaned up that code.

Thanks, I am patiently waiting for this skin. I hope others feel the same way, but I really do appreciate what you do. PMIII is just about perfect with your added changes.

I have a few ideas I would love to see implemented, but you have pretty much covered everything else. Glad to see flags making into this skin. I don't know why I like flags but I do. My wife and family just don't seem to find anything exciting about them lol.

1) I can't add fanart for movies. When I go to "Movie information" I get a choice to "add thumb," but not to "add fanart." For TV shows, I have the option to add both.

2) As hube requested in post #53, it would be nice to show the TV show banner on the TV fanart view. The banner is shown once the TV show is selected and episodes are browsed, but when the different shows are being browsed, only the fanart is displayed.

Yes I see what you mean about number 1 ..And it was there in the last release. I'll fix it and re up a new version
