View Full Version : Cloning XBMC settings to another PC (Linux)

Hi,

As it's my first posting, I must thank the devs and artists and anyone else responsible. XBMC is a fantastic front end for media. Also, the 'anyone else' includes you forum question answerers, who've already answered most of my questions. Except this one, even though I've abused the search function about it.

Scenario:
Two PCs. The first (mine) is Ubuntu 8.10, XBMC and the rest of the details aren't too important. The second (my brother's) is the same, except he lives out in the sticks and survives on a paltry half-speed dial-up connection.

When I first set him up, I cloned my media and ~/.xbmc directories to his /home drive, which worked well enough, though there were a few config issues later.

Anywho... I've added media (and downloaded info to the library dbs and thumbs) and now I want to update his PC - but without the ugliness of downloading the library info via dial-up or the config issues.

These are the files/directories I know I need to copy to his PC:

- media (obviously)
- ~/.xbmc/Database/ (all, except ViewModes.db)
- ~/.xbmc/Thumbnails/ (all)

Anything else?

Thanks again for all the help.
