Like the title says, I have a OrigenAE Case with a IR transceiver for Microsoft Windows Vista. And a logitech harmony 550 remote.

http://www.origenae.com/en/accessory_ir221.htm

I installed the IRTrans software from the OrigenAE website.

So right now I can navigate through Vista, open programs, scroll, etc with my logitech harmony 550.

Within XBMC, which I'm using only for movies right now, I can rewind, fast forward, stop etc by using the controller that pops up on screen while the movie is playing, like you would using a mouse. I can also go back to a previous window but..but I can't exit a window. For example, if I open the volume control option to turn on subtitles, I can scroll down turn it on, but I can't exit the window without using my mouse. Nor can I use the Play, FF, RW buttons on the remote. So I know it's still using windows commands and nothing is programmed specially for XBMC.

I closed my IRTrans software, ran eventghost, loaded the XBMC plugin, but I didn't see any option for my ir221 IR Receiver device. Also, I installed IR Server Suite and saw IRTrans as one of the options so I selected that but nothing is recognizing my remote other than my IRTrans software.

I'm admittedly a newb to the HTPC scene but I pick things up fast...so if someone can give me some insight or direction...

ok, so... in ir server suite debug window can you see keypresses on the remote? if the answer is yes, you just have to edit xbmcfolder/system/IRSSmap.xml changing the line <remote device="Microsoft MCE"> to whatever your remote is detected as in irserver suite (probably 'mediacenter') and matching all keys to whatever you see in irserver suite debug when you press the desired key, that's all

if you pick up things fast, try using the search function. Heard great things about it.

No, I don't see keypresses. That's the thing...the only time my keypresses are ever picked up is with my IRTrans software.

did you reboot the pc? if so, that's because the ir server suite service started BEFORE the irtrans server, that's why you see no keypresses

restart the ir server suite service and try again... remember that the irtrans server must start together with ir server suite, so you'll need to reinstall it as a service, after configuring it

I rebooted and tried again...still got nowhere. I saw posts on another IRTRans thread the other day, edited the apps.cfg and keymap. And I don't have a lircmap.xml file. Still no luck.

you don't have to reboot... if you reboot the irserver service will start again BEFORE irtrans and will not work
you just have to go to services.msc and restart ir server suite service to let it connect to irtrans (which must be already running)
can you see the irtrans red icon in the tray?
