View Full Version : PM3.HD TV, Movies in home MOD
As requested by a few people here is a modification of the pm3.hd skin to have direct links to TV Shows and Movies (Library) in the home screen.

I also figured I may as well do the job proper and added the custom background options for it as well

NOTE!!! This is based of the very latest SVN of PM3.HD (the only version I have) so you will need to obtain a copy of xbmc that is revision 17058 or higher or you will get stuff ups.
THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE XBOX, THE XBOX VERSION STILL NEEDS TO GET MERGED WITH THE LINUX VERSION BEFORE IT WILL WORK
NOTE 2 ! I removed the skin option to have programs in the main menu since it wont work with it

Wow-Looks fantastic!!!
Cant wait till it gets merged for x-box. This plus the new music coverflow view and PMIII-HD is just about perfect!!!
Jezz, any chance for this as an option in skin settings? (Since this seems to be one of the most requested modifications out there).

Is the removal of the programs in PM3HD going to be a permanent thing going forward?
No This mod isn't even currently going to be the way forward, people put a lot of effort into making it possible to disable the video and music libraries and having direct links on the home page to things that may not even exsit = bad
In Fact adding programs back in permantly is going to be the way foward soon when the launching stuff is done

...would is be possible to add this to default PM3.HD and make it so those buttons only is displayed when the the user have scanned Movies and/or TV Shows into the library, (so if the user have no Movies in the library then this "Movies" button in the home menu does not display, and if the user have no TV Shows in the library then this "TV Shows" button in the home menu does not display, and if the user does not have Movies not TV Shows then neither of those buttons are displayed)?

Is it feasible with the current skinning engine to have a fully customizable home screen? (not taking into account the "skin programming" work involved).
Looks great! I like the Scripts and Settings buttons at the bottom again!

Just so you know, I followed your directions and it works perfectly on my Xbox. This really looks much nicer than the default setup.

I have downloaded and tried the new Mod and a very strange issue happens. When I enter into the Movies section , the library mode doesnīt appear correct, the picture of the movie is on the right, out of the screen , and on the center of the screen there is nothing else more than the background.
I have "issolated" this issue in the file MyVideoNav.xml, If I use the original PM3.HD file there is no error but If I use the new one the error appears. I donīt know the difference between both files and how can I correct this error without this trick.

In that case you don't need to do anything with the files for your pc as i use this one as a secondary skin on my pc. the only time i saw what you described was on my xbox before i made the file changes as Jezz Described above
Itīs very strange.
I have created a new skin with the content of the rar file of the first post and the movie library donīt appear correctly. If I only use the 3 files that Jezz and you said it works perfect but I think I loose the changes included in the other files. I have copied file by file and the error ( my error ) appears when I use the MyVideoNav.xml new file, wich I donīt know what changes, mods o new functions it has.
My Pc is a XP-Sp3 Professional, clean installation and I use the Xbmc 8.10.

I donīt know where is the error. I have created a new skin folder, copied into it all the files from the original PM3.HD Skin. Then I have replaced all the files one by one with the new ones included into this mod. Then... the Movie and Music Library are displayed wrong, as you can see in the caps... but... If I donīt replace the MyVideoNav.xml and MyMusicNav.xml .. then.. they are displayed correctly.. but I donīt know what Iīm missing in this two files.

as you can see.. the pictures are on the right, outside the screen.
Itīs on a HTPC, XP-SP3 with 1280x720 ( 720p ) resolution.
This download is a full blown skin, so no need overwriting any other skin.
The issue is you are running a version of xbmc that is too old and does not contain the more than 10 list view code so it is causing display errors

first of all let me give you thanks for the skin, is the best with difference in my opinion.
I have installed de XBMX 8.10 Atlantis downloaded from http://xbmc.org/ , I think it is the last version, which includes the PM3.HD skin and the one I tought that was the last version. What I have to update? the PM3.HD skin or all the XBMC software ? where do I can download from??

I have installed the rev. 17641 and now it works Perfect... but my userdata folder changes from location and I have to move all the content from my \%user%\application data\xbmc\userdata to c:\program files\xbmc\user data , I donīt know why it changes... but.. it has no matter.

because the -p switch now means portable mode (userdata in program directory) instead of platform mode (userdata in application data).
This skin is perfect for my needs. Just one question. How do I change the Label on the homescreen from VIDEO to something else? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to set up a home button to jump straight to family genre movies. Illuminaughty has described things so that it's easy enough to change the Home.xml. However, I'm having trouble combing through the wiki and forum to come up with a window ID that will take me straight there. So far, the best I've come up with is to take me to the full genre screen:
xbmc.activatewindow(videolibrary,moviegenres)

Hi, a couple questions about this:
1) how hard would it be to add the 'videos' section in addition to all these, and choose a background for it?
2) is there any way to have 'TV Shows' and 'Movies' keep their default background image when choosing them in Fanart view? (currently the background switches to a picture of a camcorder until you move down your list).

Hi, I cant change the thumbs for tv shows.I can select the new thumb but it wont show up. The thumb for all seasons will change but not the thumb for Season 1, Season 2 ....
I got it working.They just wont load when i have the tv shows in cover flow.
