Hello,
Is there any way to make the keypad numbers to act as the remote numbers for sms-like text entry?
Thank you.

anybody ?
I don't think so. That would require some kind of way to interpret multiple presses of a number as a specific letter instead of just 555 or something.

Once again, I stand corrected. That would have to be done under the <keyboard> section tho, not the <remote> section.

if you want to do something similar on a keyboard, hold shift then start typing
very recent revs only
Think this should also work with <keyboard>
I'm bowing to your google fu :)
Well it's not working, or better said it's not what I need:
jumpsms is for jumping in the library, not for text entry. On a text entry field (e.g. search in the youtube of video monkey). So it jumps in the video library but still enters numbers on a text field.
I browsed the whole wiki about keymap.xml and it doen't say a thing about SMS anyway.
OTOH I cannot use the arrows to move on a text entry - the way you're suposed to be able with the game controler of the xbox. I mean at least up, down, left right should hover on the leters and enter type them ? or not? Ha, spoke to soon, found http://xbmc.org/trac/changeset/16444 about this one
SMS function is possible in virtualkeyboard with a remote.
You can't see it in the keymap, looks normal but acts like sms input.
Get back on this. Trying something out.
That I understood from the begining :)
that's why I'm asking... because my main remote is a keyboard - a wireless number keypad with volume controls. Oh and my IR remote is winlirc based and also just sends keypresses via w2x so I'm having the same problem.
Hmm latest svn build suports the virtualkeyboard navigation with the cursor keys if set in the advancedsettings.xml
