Hi there,
I am trying to get XBMC to work Ubuntu 8.04 but currently all it does is crashes immediately after it is opened. I have updated Ubuntu via the Update Manager with all the latest patches. I think the problem is with the graphics drivers (since HDMI functionality doesn't work and videos played on the default Ubuntu player is choppy). We've tried a bunch of ways suggested on Google/Forums to install the drivers but nothing has worked.

Hardware:
Intel Celeron 440 (2.0Ghz)
1GB Kingston RAM
Intel P5QL-EM (G43 Chipset)

Thanks
Speedman

I am using the graphics card that comes with the board (integrated X4500). Also, I remember typing a command that indicated that accelerated opengl was not working.

You need to install ubuntu 8.10 to have proper kernel support for that chip.
