Newbie here. My apologies if this has already been addressed. I've found many threads about tearing that suggest going to System > Appearance > Screen > Vertical Blank Sync and making sure it's turned on, but my version of XBMC doesn't have that option.
I'm getting bad horizontal lines during fast movement (I believe this is tearing?) on PAL DVDs only. NTSC DVDs play fine with no tearing. As noted above, I don't have a "Vertical Blank Sync" option. I only have Resolution, Video Calibration..., Flicker Filter, and Soften. I've played with Flicker Filter and Soften, but, predictably, these don't help. I do have "Framerate Conversion" set to "Play PAL videos at NTSC rates" under System > Media Settings > Videos > Player.
I'm running XBMC pre-2.1 (compiled May 19, 2008) on an xbox. A friend helped me install it, so if later versions of XBMC fix the tearing for the xbox, I'm out of luck unless upgrading is fairly easy. If upgrading is like installing was, I'm sadly out of my depth.
Am I missing the "Vertical Blank Syc" option because I'm running an out-of-date version of XBMC? Is there anything I can do to fix the tearing with my current version?
Thanks so much for your time and patience, all. :)
